**Alright before I get started here, you can find all of this information with screenshots on the #info channel on the clan discord page.** Now, the citadel is a magical, wonderful place (lol). At the citadel, you can battle each other, Panic at the Disco, hold meetings, and most importantly earn easy, AFK xp, weekly bonus xp, weekly skilling buffs, and entry into the weekly 5M raffle by gathering resources (i.e. capping). Our clan primarily uses the citadel for capping and the resulting perks. While capping is quick and easy once you get the hang of it, there are some tricks to capping efficiently and maximizing your perks. So, we've put together this tutorial to explain the perks and help get you started! Now, there is a good bit of ground to cover, and this thread is admittedly pretty long (sorry about that). But hang in there until the end, and I promise you'll be ready to cap at the citadel and earn your weekly rewards. :) Note: There are two pages to this thread! Make sure to read the messages on page 2!
Getting to the citadel: To get to the citadel, run NW from the Port Sarim Lodestone or use your clan vexillum to transport directly to the portal. The portal is big and blue; you can** miss it.
Before you go in (first time only), you need to do 2 things: 1. Talk to the scribe to get your clan vexillum. He’s located just SW of the portal (screen shot available on discord). Right click the scribe and choose get vexillum. This is a sign with our clan banner that we can use to announce our presence in an area. It can also be used to transport directly to the portal. Feel free to bank this item and use it as much/little as you want. 2. Talk to the captain of the guard to get your clan cloak. He’s located to the SE of the portal (screen shot available on discord). Right click and choose get cloak. Your cloak is super useful because it can give you bonus xp (more on this later).
Going into the citadel: Click on the portal and choose “my clan citadel”. This will transport you to the portal area of our citadel. Please note, this is the area you must return to to leave the citadel (have to leave via the portal). (Screen shot available on discord).
Moving around the citadel is easy: You can either walk/run or teleport to various hotspots (like my lazy self). To teleport click the button that has replaced your world map button. This will open the citadel info screen, which among other things let’s you teleport. Simply click on the icon for the spot you want to go, and you’ll teleport there instantly. **Random note: On the citadel info screen, you will see a "build in count down timer" above the citadel map. This tells you how long you have to cap before the next citadel reset.
While capping at the citadel, you will bank items, attune the avatar control stone (choose what type of xp bonus you want), and gather resources. Our citadel currently has 4 resource plots. As more members join and we gather resources, we will be able to expand! Citadel expansion happens 1x per week when the citadel resets (Wed evenings) and allows us to open additional skill plots that we can then gather resources at. Trust me; this is a good thing! But, maybe you don’t trust me; we did just meet after all (sorta lol). If your not sold on gathering resources for the sake of growing the citadel and/or if you’re thinking *what’s in it for me?”, here’s the answer. A lot! Gathering the max amount of resources your allowed each week (i.e. capping) does a lot for you as a player: 1. Capping gives you easy xp in whatever skill you choose to gather resources in. 2. It opens opportunities for weekly and daily bonus xp (see below). 3. It enters you into the 5m gp raffle hosted each week just after the citadel resets. Now as a clan, we never require players to cap, BUT capping is beneficial for all, so we do encourage that you cap each week!
So if you’re still interested in taking advantage of this system, here’s how you do it: Step 1: Attune the control stone Go to the town square and right click to attune the avatar control stone located in the SE corner of the square (see pic on discord). This is how you choose what type of xp you want to gain, so it is extremely helpful to do this before and after capping. Before capping, attune the stone to citadel skill plot resource bonus; this will allow you to gather resources 50% faster!
Step 2: Gather resources Capping is as easy as clicking on a resource plot and letting your player do its thing. Each resource plot earns xp for a given skillset (Chopping roots = wc xp. Mining stone = mining xp. etc), and you can gather resources at one or all of the available plots until you hit your resource cap. To monitor your progress, use your minigames tab which will open automatically when you enter the citadel. You can also use this tab to monitor clan progress towards a given resource. As a general rule of thumb, gather whatever resources you want the xp in, unless it's late in the week and we are below quota on a certain resource; if that is the case, please gather the needed resource. Tip: You can use urns while capping to boost the xp you earn!
Step 3: Update the discord If you want to be included in the weekly raffle for a chance at 5m, go to the #capped section on discord and post that you have capped. If you do not use the clan discord, you can do one of 2 things to enter the raffle: 1. Ask someone in the clan chat to take pity and list you on #capped 2. Post your name to #capped as a discord guest. Discord guests have temporary access to the channel so they can post but are logged off of the server as soon as they close out of the window. To do this, copy and paste the following link into your address bar: https://discord.gg/q5WcA68
Step 4: Attune the control stone Go back to the town square and right click to attune the avatar control stone; this time choose xp boost. This will trigger your 3-6% bonus xp which when active grants bonus xp to all skills (gathering and combat) when you leave the citadel. **Please note that if you do not switch to "xp boost" mode before leaving the citadel, you will not receive xp boosts while skilling! Do not forget this step!
