*SPOILERS* DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED PIECES OF HATE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

So in Pieces of Hate, the final fight takes place in an underwater fortress with a portal to another world, one in which the owner of the giant stone hand that Rabid Jack was in league.

If you return to the area after the quest, you might recognize some murals and decor belonging to the Dragonkin. The four murals apparently tell a story.

#1 Mural

The mural depicts a bunch of Dragonkin gathered around the very same portal the hand pops through.
"This mural depicts a dragonkin performing some sort of ritual. There's a name mentioned: Kranon. However, it's crossed out and surrounded by multiple crude carvings of the dragonkin word "Vek" (failure). Then there's some other words: "Kranon Cras Roake Pthen."

Roake Pthen has been repeated in a previous mural found on Mount Firewake: "Drakkerkin Kethsi Chen. Kethsi Vek. Kalist Fia Necrosyrtes. Lith Roake Pthen Kethsi. Askanth Kuln Kethsi. Kalist Lith. Kerapac Vek."

Based on Dragonkin structure, Roake Pthen appears to be an action modifier plus a verb, possibly meaning "open portal." Kranon is the obvious subject, and Cras seems to be describing Kranon.

#2 Mural

This mural depicts black hands grabbing at the dragonkin. I think Kranon is being dragged away, and is that other dragonkin maybe dying? There are more words written beneath the mural: "Kreath Lac Roakin... Drakkerkin Skek..."

Kreath translates to Dark/Shadow/Black, so it seems to be describing the hands. Drakkerkin are the dragonkin themselves, and skek seems to be the action being performed by the dragonkin.
"While Guthix Sleeps, the World Wakes to the Fate of the Gods and the Children of Mah in Sliske's Endgame..."

#3 Mural
This mural shows the dragonkin burning other, strange-looking dragonkin with its fire breath. The words below this mural are "Skekkin Kath Rath! Kranon Roakin Rak."

So, Skekkin might be the dying/changed dragonkin,

Kath translates to Failure/Weakling/Runt, implying the Skekkin are weaker or less than the dragonkin, which sounds a lot like zombiism to me. Rath appears to be an action being performed by the Skekkin.

Other than the name "Kranon," "Kranon Roakin Rac" is hard to make any headway in regards to translation, but going on the third mural, Kranon might be the one attacking the strange-looking dragonkin with his fire breath, so Roakin Rac might refer to attacking with fire breath, or magic attack.

#4 Mural

This final mural depicts rubble...destruction...I can't quite make it out. There's only a few words I can still read here: "Vek... Skek... Chen... Ulthven... Fia..."

Vek translates to "failure", Skek hypothetical means "dead/sick/changed" Chen means "razed/destroyed," Ulthven is the name of the fortress itself, and Fia means "safe/protected from." So the last sentence translates to "The failed dead are destroyed, Ulthven is safe."

Final Thoughts

Now, the black hands that attacked us during the Pieces of Hate boss fight and the dragonkin may have belonged to Xau-Tak, who has had dark hands attributed to them, and have been linked from dark rocks responsible from raising the dead, from the dark rocks that fuel the zombie magic of Rabid Jack's army, to the the stone altar used to resurrect the ex-ex parrot. Apparently, those hands may have turned some of the dragonkin undead. Kranon had them destroyed, saving Ulthven, but was killed himself by his dragonkin peers for his failure leading to the corruption of the Skekkin.

Let me know about your thoughts on Ulthven Kreath murals, translations, and theories.

#1:
Other occurrences of Roake and Roake Pthen imply that Roake means Portal, and that Pthen means Magic or something similar. Giving us the following sentence:

Kranon Cras portal magic

#2:
We see Roakin, which seems to be a combination of Roake and the -kin suffix. Hence we get Portal-kin, or something relating to portal. This allows us then to conclude that Lac must mean Arms. And we get the following sentence:

Dark arms portal-kin... Dragonkin dead...

#3:
Here we have another use of the -kin suffix with Skekkin, given that Skek probably means dead, this then makes the word Dead-kin, or as we would call it Undead. We then get the sentence:

Dead-kin weakling Rath! Kranon portal-kin Rak.
"Abscondita est in Astra."

So... the portal merked a bunch of dragonkin, then resurrected them as undead dragonkin. Given that the dragonkin live in this universe via Jas's tampering, i don't think Xau-Tak could do this without being an elder himself... HMMMMM....

Drakkerkin Kethsi Chen. Kethsi Vek. Kalist Fia Necrosyrtes. Lith Roake Pthen Kethsi. Askanth Kuln Kethsi. Kalist Lith. Kerapac Vek.

Translated with what we know, we get:

The Dragonkin razed Kethsi. Kethsi is a failure. Kalist protected from the Necrosyrtes. A superior portal was opened to Kethsi. Askanth Kuln Kethsi. Kalist is superior. Kerapac is a failure.

This seems to refer to the events in Forcae's journal. In that case, we can infer what a number of the unknown words mean:

The Dragonkin razed Kethsi. Kethsi is a failure. My lab was protected from the Necrosyrtes. A superior portal was opened to Kethsi. Askanth Kuln Kethsi. New lab is superior. Kerapac is a failure.

I suspect Askanth Kuln refers to Forcae's construction of a Forge on Mount Firewake. I also suspect that, 'Kerapac Vek,' is meant to mean, 'Kerapac is a fool,' as we see that sentence in Forcae's journal. So some Dragonkin words may have secondary meanings.

I think your translation here is a bit off since we are missing some words. Judging by the state of Ulthven, I'm thinking the following is more likely:

We failed to stop the dead. We razed Ulthven. We are safe for now.

That being said, I'm not sure that Roake Pthen means open portal (given that Forcae doesn't make note of opening a portal to Kethsi, let alone one that would be considered superior for some reason).

I'm thinking it might mean: experiment + a modifier. That way, the Firewake mural would say something along the lines of:

A superior *something* experimented on Kethsi.

Referring to the development of the rune dragons.

While the Ulthven mural would say:

Kranon *something something* experiment.

In which case, the 'Roakin' would be, 'the experimented on Dragonkin.'

I also don't think that Kranon is the Dragonkin attacking the strange Dragonkin in the murals. He was the only dragonkin to have been explicitly grabbed in the murals, so I think Kranon was the one leading/sending the Roakin in their attack.

Isn't Kalist = Catalyst? Aka The Stone of Jas?

That was my initial reaction as well, but it didn't seem right and wasn't in the primer.

Assuming that Kalist does mean the catalyst we get:

The Dragonkin razed Kethsi. Kethsi fell. The Catalyst was saved from the Necrosyrtes. A superior portal was opened on Kethsi (the world gate maybe?). Askanth Kiln Kethsi. The Catalyst is superior. Kerapac is a failure.

Those last 2 sentences really don't seem to make sense though. Maybe Askanth Kiln Kethsi is supposed to mean the stone was stolen while being brought back from Kethsi (by Zamorak in all likelihood) and Kerapac was in charge of that. Though I still don't get the point of saying the Catalyst is superior in the middle of that (maybe it made Zamorak strong enough to fend them off, though that contradicts what happened when the Kethsians used it against the kin).

The weird bit though would then be the adamant dragon mural as that would then seem to translate to:

Dragons combined with steel. They are a failure. Kerapac Vertentis (rejects?) the steel dragons. Failure. Forcae is the Catalyst. Forcae is superior to the Catalyst. Forcae is superior to a king/emperor.

As such, I think Kalist might just mean 'Scientist/place of science (lab).' That way, the adamant dragon mural inscription makes a lot more sense, and the rune dragon mural can still make sense as Forcae inscribing the events leading to his move to Kethsi.

Kalist appears to be Research. Forcae uses it to refer to himself, particularly as in being superior to Kerapac. He also uses it to describe what Kethsi is superior for.

Also Askanth Kuln appears to be Catalyst Energy.

So we have the following quotes:

Drakkerkin Roake Pthen Tesska Askanth Kuln
Dragonkin portal magic Tesska Catalyst energy
-Kerapac opening portals to summon Protoplasmic wisps

Draekeun Castil Lokur. Vek. Kerapac Vertentis Draekeun Lokur. Vek. Forcae Kalist. Forcae Lith Kalist. Forcae Lith Verak!
Dragon combine steel. Failure. Kerapac Vertentis Dragon Steel. Failure. Forcae research. Forcae superior research. Forcae superior leader!
-Brimhaven mural

Drakkerkin Kethsi Chen. Kethsi Vek. Kalist Fia Necrosyrtes. Lith Roake Pthen Kethsi. Askanth Kuln Kethsi. Kalist Lith.
Dragonkin Kethsi destroy. Kethsi failed. Research safe from Necrosyrtes. Superior portal magic Kethsi. Catalyst energy Kethsi. Research superior.
-Kethsi mural

"Superior portal magic Kethsi" there seems to reference the World Gate being right next to the lab.
"Abscondita est in Astra."
