I have two theories here.

1) The Rift in Daemonheim leads to Muspell. This is shown in the Book of Zamorak, where Moia describes the place where she ended up as a world "formed from fire; mutable in state, in countless colours and designs that I lack the words to describe. It was a world of chaos that defied the laws of nature. It was beautiful." This is a similar description read in Fate of the Gods, when we turn the World Gate to the M sigil, and is said to also be the homeland of the Auspah. This also goes into my other theory.

2) Phoenixes originate from Muspell. The reason I say this is because of the reborn mages in the warped floors of Daemonheim. I believe that there is a phoenix in the Rift and some of the reborn creatures slipped through the dimensions into the dungeons. It's unlikely that Bilrach would have been able to make them do his bidding unless he managed to take the phoenix, or if Zamorak had kept it in order to add to security in his hideout.

Please feel free to post your opinions. :)

What's a Muspell? Is that a spell cast by a Muspah? A
World Guardian
must learn to find
Balance
in themselves.
Only then can they
Control
themselves and forge their own
Fate.

It was a joke, but yeah...

Phoenix's are a race of fire birds, and the Auspah were basically Firebenders.. and the world we believe to be Muspell is covered in flames and such..

I'd say yeah, that's where phoenix's are from.

Balance
in themselves.
Only then can they
Control
themselves and forge their own

Considering Bilrach and Moia entered the Rift at presumably similar times and only one of them ended up in Muspell (the other on Freneskae), I'd say your theory about it leading to Muspell is only as true as Muspell being one of many possible destinations.

A hobgoblin Geomancer made it to Infernus.
There are also gateways linking the Gorajo, Stalker and Behemoth worlds.

It even said how Moia and Bilrach were torn from eachother, sent tumbling through the dimensions.

To add to the confusion of the rifts power over Daemonheims portals.
The 'scrap of parchment' hints it allows time travel, not just long distance space.

No.

... Well maybe.

The thing is that Aig isn't pointing out where the Rift has sent people, but rather where Bill's portals have sent people.

The hobgoblin geomancer? Ended up on Infernus due to Bill opening a portal to the Kal'gerions' realm on Infernus.

The portals to the Stalker, Behemoth, and Gorajo portals? All, at the very least, were initially made by Bill (evidence shows he stopped opening portals to the Gorajo's world, but more opened up).

The scrap of parchment? ...Well that's part of the 19th God Letters, which aren't canon, so I've no idea how to explain that.

But even knowing that, it's important to point out that said portals were only able to reach the locations they did due to the Rift naturally 'thinning the barrier between worlds.' So anything the portals accomplished could theoretically be done by the Rift as well, but that's largely unconfirmed suspicion.

The scrap of parchment was presumably blown through the time vorticies, as mentioned in the 'Portal Notes'.

Bilrach was already doing portal experiments during his descent.
Which makes me think the closer he got to the Rift, the more powerful and promising his portals became. Until the portals themselves were in close enough proximity to be warped by the Rift, and drained as a rejuvenation alternative.

As for the Rift being a portal itself. I would expect it to be like a cracked window.
With Bilrach shattering it upon reaching floor 61, puncturing this 'weak spot' in the dimensional barrier.

What still eludes me is the whispers that drove Bilrach insane.
There was a thread about the Rift linking to the Schism, if that can answer any questions.

The Rift is said to be the place where the barriers between dimensions is weakest. Which means it's like a more chaotic and dangerous version of the World Gate, where you can go in or get swept in and end up somewhere random. It was just pure luck that Moia bumped into Zamorak in my opinion, just as it may have been luck that Zamorak ended up in Muspell (?) and not on top of the tower in New Domina. He would have been screwed if that happened lol.
