I dont see how a complete Tumeken is more worthy of the moniker of a God than the other young gods. As we know he was tier 5..

Yes. Tumeken isn't more of a god than the others and the journals never implied so. Oreb isn't saying that the soul in question is somehow more powerful than the other gods, its existence simply prompted him to speculate what could theoretically be achieved by splitting up your essence.

And while you could fancifully call the Anima Mundi "divine", that'd be a bit misleading considering Divine Energy is an actual thing. I also find it a bit odd that Oreb, a supposed master of soul manipulation, didn't know about the Anima Mundi before coming to Menaphos. In fact, he claims he "sensed" it, which you'd think he'd always do, both on Gielinor and Teragard, since the Anima Munfi flows through all life.

@Devil, the Anima Mundi definitely isn't divine. It's plain life force. Not the "refined" energy that is found in gods, Mahjarrat, and elder artefacts.

Also @Aesir, elaborate on him not knowing about the Anima Mundi? I don't recall anything about that I don't think?

From what I have gathered from reading over the transcripts of his journals is this. He stumbled upon Tumeken's soul in the underworld. He is also seeking out godhood himself . But not from the use of any elder artifact, but through soul manipulation.

How can Tumeken have a soul? I get the sense that all the journals and the magisters battle occurs in 5th age and that theres more to the info that nomad knows which leads to his creation of Gilenior in Nomads Elegy in the 6th age. A god truely deserving of its title...

But there's more. I have felt it. There resides here a soul of tremendous power, a soul clearly divine in nature, yet it is not whole. It is split across several pieces, many of which have changed to become, of themselves, singular entities.

The souls making up Gielinor wouldn't have been "clearly Divine in nature", nor would they be part of a singular being pre-construction. Oreb refers to one soul that had been split into several parts, which is consistent with what we know about Tumeken. Restoring his soul has been a prominent plot point of the Desert series for a while now. Most notably, the four aspects make up his bau, who match the "singular entities" Oreb mentions in his journals.

Also, maybe it's just me, but I find it hard to believe a god that can be defeated by Icthlarin and Death, who are fairly weak in the grand scheme of things, is a "truer" god than the continent-levelling gods at the top of the tier scale.

Jagex has eventually thrown out the tiers in the last year when you've had Tumeken and the QoA running around tier 2 mutating creatures.

I was a bit unclear there, sorry. I meant that if the divine and tremendously powerful soul Oreb sensed is the Anima Mundi, like Devil Vein claims, then that would imply he doesn't know about it, as he treats this "soul" as something he discovered recently. I thought it would be weird if a highly-intelligent soul manipulator like Oreb didn't know about something as prevalent as the Anima Mundi.

Mutations aren't tier 2 - it's a fine and tricky line, but it's more like altering existing life to create new life entirely, not a variant of the previous lifeform or an already-existing lifeform.

After all, mutations are kinda something we can do IRL, and House Lesarkus on Teragard modifies biology apparently. And of course, there's vampyrization and ripper demon infection.

The way I see it is that only Elder Gods can produce what all life is made from. T2 Gods can then take that and make it into stuff, or completely manipulate existing life made from it. They can do this, because to become a T2 God you need to know about anima and to siphon energy from it. This is what Seren taught Guthix and allowed him to ascend further. Zaria and Seren have always been doing it as that is how they were created. Other Gods can change existing creatures into variations or new species, but they are much more limited as they don't have the knowledge or ability to change it on another level, which T2 Gods can do. Basically, in my opinion, Saradomin could take a monkey and change it to a human, or combine a human and a horse, or imbue power into something like a Golem thus technically creating new life. Whereas a T2 god could take a cow and turn it into a squid or a tree.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend to be one of those deaf-mutes
