We have this year been building legal cases against the owners of a number of gold-selling sites that are causing damage to the community and our games. In the last few weeks, these efforts have been rewarded, and weĺre happy to report that the owner of Arcus Gold and Bogla Gold has signed an undertaking to cease all operations. Both sites are now down - a good result for the RuneScape and Old School RuneScape communities.

While it would be unwise for us to share all of our plans to combat bots and gold sellers, rest assured that beyond the thousands of bot and real-world trading bans we perform daily, we also actively seek to identify the specific people responsible for cheating - including bot developers, gold sellers and hijackers - and take action to protect our game and community.

Real world trading companies like these have a massive impact on the community and games. Ill effects include the game becoming flooded with their bots to build up gold stocks (in turn impacting the cost of things in the Grand Exchange) and players using insecure accounts that leave them open to scams. Plus, all those who buy items and success devalue the achievements of legitimate players.

This is by no means the end of the battle, but it's a big step in the right direction. Our work against these nefarious elements won't end here. There are other cases still ongoing. We continue to seek out gold sellers, in-game bots, bot developers and hijackers - and we'll pursue legal action whenever we can. Finally, we're also stepping up our work against gold buyers - it's clear that we've been a little too lenient in the past, but harsher penalties are on the way.

There are ways you can help us with this. The obvious things are, of course, to avoid cheating and visiting real-world trading sites. Please also report cheating whenever you see it. We're pretty confident that we find most bots, but users play a vital role spotting any that we've missed. Bots you report may not always disappear immediately, but your reports help us identify things we're not detecting and allow us to improve our systems so that we can find them in future.

Wow, is this real? A higher-up at Jagex actually let this slip through? Who are you guys trying to fool by saying things like this, implying that you care about the game's integrity, while at the same time you sell Treasure Hunter keys and bonds, which can be used to buy items and "success" in the game?

Kudos for taking action against 3rd party gold sellers, but now is your turn, Jagex: remove Treasure Hunter and don't replace it with anything else. Show that you care about the game. After all, you just said it yourself that being able to buy those things devalues the achievements of legitimate players.

One of the most difficult things to give away is kindness; usually it comes back to you :)

This baffles me because you still have sites like Sythe still operating and that's where many gold sellers and account sellers advertise their business. Attack the marketing of the "business" and then people won't know about them.

Something like tipoff@jagex.com. I'm sure someone will provide the correct address if it's wrong.

That is indeed the correct email address. :)

Just remember that it's a no-reply email.
