Talking about the breaking the storm event. Why raise the event currency needed to 20,000 up from 15,000 last event? Imagine how pissed the guy with the username Thor must be for an appropriate title to be out of reach.

Can jagex just buff the currency obtained every time its obtained? Let's discuss something other than the comp cape debacle.

Two words: slow burn.

For the MTX to sell, Jagex has to design the MTX content to be either boring or time-consuming, so that people buy into the MTX. But if they did this too quickly, increasing the scumminess too much in a short amount of time, too many people would get upset, whereas with slow but steady increases, people remain comfortable because they don't notice the leaps Jagex has taken over time. And then they'll defend the increases under the premise of them "not being that bad" etc.

How is s/he angry?

Just because they didnt read the ingame interface and bought the wrong amount?

Besides, its only 5k difference so its not that big of a deal.

Just think of it as giving you more time to gain those xpz.

No support.

You can still gain currency even after cap just at a slower rate.

So the event is still completeable even w/o buying anything.

You do realise that you can obtain 500 daily currency at a vastly accelerated rate? The event runs for 14 days, so you can get an easy 7K currency for hardly any effort as you do not need to click anything besides your inventory to stop you from lobbying.

Currency from daily challenges also still exist, where you can obtain roughly 100 currency, meaning a saving of ~12 mins a day. You also get currency passively when completing the said daily challenge.

There's also challenge you can do that takes 1-2 mins, which also awards 500 currency.

So, it's not that bad compared to previous events.
Hard -> 3a Range Top (#357), 3a Full Helm (#439), Barrows Dye (#1755, #2546)
Elite -> Shadow Dye (#510, #1970, #1985), Barrows Dye (#680, #1567, #2038), 3a Druidic Staff (#969), Ice Dye (#1539)
Master -> Barrows Dye (#480)

So, we need 20,000 tokens to complete this event and earn all the rewards.

We get a one-time-task from Mr. Mordaut to earn 500 tokens.

We get a daily allowance of 500 tokens at a fast rate (~8 minutes for me) from working on the boat, during which time you also get skilling related xp drops which might allow for another 75 tokens (3 drops of ~25 tokens), so ~575 tokens daily.

You can earn tokens through xp drops while working to complete daily challenges, and gain some bonus tokens when handing those challenges in. Challenges are only issued once per day, but you may start the event with 5 challenges 'banked' that you can complete for a total of 18 possible daily challenges. My fishing task today earned ~250 tokens.

20,000 - 500 = 19,500 (one time task)
19,500 - (14 x 575) = 11,450 (daily allowance)
11,450 - (18 x 250) = 6950 (daily challenges)

So that still leaves 6950 tokens to obtain through other means assuming you complete the daily activities every day for the entire 14 day event. Through skilling I am getting token drops roughly every 3 minutes, averaging a drop size of 24 tokens. So to get my target of 6950 tokens, I will need:
6950 ÷ 24 = ~290 drops.

At 3 minutes each, this will take:
290 x 3 = 870 mins = 14.5 hours.

That's 14½ hours of non-stop grinding on top of the daily activities already mentioned.
So if Jagex were going for 'boring or time-consuming' with this event, I think they really hit the nail on the head!

@Draco: I wonder if you still hold to the comments you made prior to this event's release?

Ive yet to see any "bad" community event personally so.

What is considered 'bad' varies from person to person.

For me, skilling for over 2 hours per day, every day of the event, to collect enough in-game currency (twigs, leaves, embers, tokens, whatever) to unlock all the rewards, where missing even a single day will dash your hopes of completing the event, would be 'Bad'.
Skilling for 30 minutes per day, in a much more forgiving event, not so much.

Where on that scale this new event will come, we have yet to see.

Uhh im sure you're still able to achieve everything even if you start on the last day.

That's how the other event have been at least.

Yet ive waited till the last day before and still got everything so.

I'm just curious if your opinion has changed, now that we know the details of this event.

He will say something like a day has more than 14.5 hours or something.

Why increase the numbers? Blackwing hit it on the head (no surprise haha because this is almost by the book) it's to keep you playing longer and to make you subconsciously and/or deliberately, depending on the situation, make you feel under pressure - which this does very well.

At this point with these sort of events I just do 2k tokens per day rather than subject myself to mindlessly staring at the computer for hours on end. Funnily enough, in a way, Jagex doing what they are has eventually taught me to do this and now these events aren't as stressful because I don't feel under as much pressure.
