Several reasons:
(1) The crucial part of the Mobile port is behind RS3 Mobile now when OSRS doesn’t have any problem. There is no need to rush when RS3 has more far content than OSRS. Jagex can use a month or 2 more to get RS3 Mobile into better shape at launch.
(2) It is not a good idea from the marketing standpoint to release RS3 Mobile before December 2018. There are heavy weight video game releases in the likes of CoD: Black Op 4 and RDR2. You should get the idea why the scheduled release of Battlefield V was scared off to November, but then November now will become bad for a RS3 Mobile release due to Battlefield V among the others. So it is wise just to wait a little longer.
(3) I believe the Mobile projects are far more valuable to Jagex’s Chinese parents and their markets in the East. They are not in a real rush to pick up a just a few more players in the West.
Anyway, you should hear more about RS3 Mobile in Runefest 2018. I predict a short open beta will be announced, followed by a tentative release date set either in December 2018 or January 2019, together with Jagex’s grander plan for global mobile domination through acquisition and partnership.
