But wasn't the first place a month of membership instead of RuneCoins in previous PG contests? (aside from the concept art print etc.)

Hi Frankaer,

It has varied I believe - certainly the last few were for Spins, but we thought RuneCoins more appropriate for the relaunch.

I did have two questions: I wanted to know if free players are allowed to enter the contest, and I wanted to know if we could submit animated .GIF pictures.

Hi Denstagmer,

Yes, all players can enter and I can see no reason why you wouldn't be allowed to submit animated .GIF pictures - I'll doublecheck but I think that should be fine.

I'm hot on the trail of working on my submission. I've worked 2 hours so far and are almost done with drawing bandos alone. I look forward to entering for the 2nd time, as I entered last year also.

On a side note, though, I remember when the rewards were membership and other fun things. 1k runecoins won't get more than 2 outfits, it seems pretty rubbish for the amount of work so many are putting in, and then the letdown of such a low reward. It doesn't cost Jagex a penny to give membership for a reward, or any amount of runecoins. You have no excuse to give such low rewards, honestly. Please don't do 1 month of membership, also. Let's be serious, people put in hours of work, reward them properly. 1st place should be 1 year of membership, 2nd place should be 6 months, 3rd should be 1000 runecoins. Unless the Jmods who host this event pay out of their pocket, which they shouldn't, the company can do this.

I looked at rewards carefully - we intend to make this a monthly thing again so we have to consider the prizes we offer carefully. When last we ran the Players' Gallery the prize was 50 Spins, a roughly equivalent value to the RuneCoins we are offering this time. Certainly the level of prizes you have suggested would be far bigger than any other competition we have run recently, including the Golden Gnomes, and therefore is not really appropriate.

Is this for new artwork only? I made a custom Zamorak pony (yes, that's right) during Battle of Lumbridge. He was submitted to the RS deviantArt group at the time. I suppose I wouldn't be able to enter him here? Or can I?

Regardless, this is great news :D I hope to participate in future themes when I'm not already working on something.

Provided it is your own artwork and has not been previously submitted to us for a competition or similar then I think you will be fine :)

(I am afeared of this pony though ;) )
