Misplaced threads are moved to the correct section as we encounter them or if it is reported to FH. The bottom line the world is not ending even if a few threads are in the wrong section. Let's all be realistic and focus on what is important for us, which is discussing on threads that captures our interest. The fmods are not losing sleep over misplaced threads here and there, neither should you.

I appreciate that, however the threads might not be misplaced in the first place if the forum simply said RS3 in the title. Its such a simple fix that would not be hard to implement at all and would relieve confusion on where to post if the topic involves OSRS and not RS3.

Let's all take a step back and reset this conversation. If it continues I'll be locking the thread.

The forums do not "belong" to RuneScape 3 players, nor do they "belong" to Old School RuneScape players. We are all a part of the same community and you should all act accordingly.

As Louiellen pointed out, threads that are requested to move are moved and its nothing to lose sleep over.

Would it be bad to add RS3 to the RS3 General forum so threads are less likely to be misplaced in the first place?

If the topic is OSRS and not RS3, then the players making the threads I would think would want them placed in the relevant forum.

I see the problem more so as if the post doesn't identify which version of the game they are having issues with. It often becomes the problem of the type of advice given. Some things work differently in both games take quests for the example. In RS3 Heroes and Shield of Arrav can now be completed solo by speaking with the respected leaders to swap. However in Old School they need to use the partner sticky thread in Old School General due to those quests still requiring partners, or friends to repeat the content with grip in heroes quest.

Exactly, if the forums were meant to be used for both games, then there would be one general section not two.

What I am asking is simply add RS3 to the RS3 General forum title, its not hard to change the title and would likely largely solve the problem if misplaced threads and having people confused over what advice to give.

Let's not forget there are always some users who know the differences between the RS3 and OSRS forums but they still intentionally post on the wrong one or both.

I think those intentionally post in the wrong forums (as evidenced by the same thread they put on multiple places over multiple forums) and/or those come with malacious intent with explicit and provocative comments against either RS3/OSRS or certain groups of players should be issued warnings and then strikes since they are intentionally disrupting order in the forums.

That is a different problem, my suggestion is more for players who don't know they are posting in the wrong forum, however you do have a valid point, and this won't solve people posting in the wrong forum intentionally but neither is it meant to, its meant to help players realize this is the RS3 general section so hopefully they look for the OSRS general forum and put the thread where they intended instead of the wrong forum section.

Yes, it would be bad because a truly new Runescape player would really have no idea RS3 is Runescape. RS3 is not the official name of Runescape. If you put RS3 instead of Runescape in all the Jagex websites, games etc it would only confuse the truly new players.

To make things worse, those fake RS3 newbies would pretend that they did not know RS3 was Runescape. More would come and claim they thought RS3 was OSRS.

Jagex use the Runescape game name to refer to the RS3 that most not-quite-new Runescape players know in all other social media and friend sites, etc. None of these sites ever have to change Runescape to RS3 but almost all their users, veterans or really really news one included hardly stumbled into the wrong place to post. That tell you a lot of thing about this RSOF already. ;)

If sticky threads arent any use to deter the issue, how would this be any better?
