Yes, it would be bad because a truly new Runescape player would really have no idea RS3 is Runescape. RS3 is not the official name of Runescape. If you put RS3 instead of Runescape in all the Jagex websites, games etc it would only confuse the truly new players.

To make things worse, those fake RS3 newbies would pretend that they did not know RS3 was Runescape. More would come and claim they thought RS3 was OSRS.

Jagex use the Runescape game name to refer to the RS3 that most not-quite-new Runescape players know in all other social media and friend sites, etc. None of these sites ever have to change Runescape to RS3 but almost all their users, veterans or really really news one included hardly stumbled into the wrong place to post. That tell you a lot of thing about this RSOF already.

Exactly.

False. No one is confused about guild wars 2. No one asks if guild wars 2 is guild wars. No one gets confused on the guild wars forums.

What you keep calling merely "Runescape" has already gone over two transformations, one into RS2, and a second into RS3, which was over 5 years ago. Maybe it was before your time?

But here it is being explicitly confirmed by Jagex's official youtube.
And here it is in the html of this very page.

What's good enough for Jagex's webteam should be good enough for you :D

There are no "fake RS3 newbies," except in your fantasies. Stop assuming bad faith of users.

This isn't about other social media sites. And this also isn't about you trying to rewrite history and pretend RS3's moniker isn't officially supported by Jagex, when it so clearly is. It's about clarifying things for new users for "runescape's" growing community.
Don't forget – RuneScape members get TWO free spins a day instead of the usual one!

Some people are still living in the 2nd Age of Jagex. All the old stuff including unofficial logos are gone like RSC now in this 3rd Age of Jagex. The 2nd Age of Jagex things that were unfit to survive are history now. :D:D:D

Only Jagex know who are real and fake RS3 newbies. Don't pretend you know or I will ask go through the right forum and real life process to verfify it. ;)

So this isn't about other social media sites but it is about Guild Wars? Funny that somebody contradicted himself so obviously in one short thread. :D:D:D

I kind of agree. But I was thinking maybe OSRS forums should be above the other forums. That way it would be very obvious.

And the RS3 players already know where to post so it would be win, win.

Actually the really obvious FACT is even the Jagex OSRS team tells OSRS players to go to not just the RSOF, but also Reddit to post their comments. However, the Jagex RS3 team still tells their players to discuss on the RSOF but not any other forums.

"Discuss this update on our official forums, the community-led 2007Scape Reddit, or the community-led OSRS Discord in the #gameupdate channel."

This Jagex fact clearly shows Jagex's stance regarding the RSOF despite of how "obvious" some players think. ;)

Because I'm not so sure OSRS players are deliberately posting in the wrong forum. But if the OSRS subforums were say, right under the VIP subforums, they couldn't get lost. And the RS3 forumers would see OSRS General and know they needed to look a bit further in.

I'm saying this because alot of the time I feel people think they have the right place and it's not clear enough for them where they should post. Should Jagex care enough to make it simpler? Idk, it's up to the web developers but if we're discussing it here, I think it might be worth looking at for the health of the forums.
