It's just shitball anyway. There's a thread where you can report names individually but wtf is that anyway when you can report in game. The bot is still active I just logged in and checked once again nearing 46m mining exp.

I was watching OSRS YT vids yesterday and it seems like a majority of sir puggers recent videos are all about him bot busting, which is great btw, but come on man. Why should players, who pay to play the game, be left to combat bots themselves. Ridiculous. What are we paying these guys for is its not mostly going towards account and server stability, and a means to combat exploits and botting? You can shove the new elves quest tbh, and this new Nez helm rework. That shits easy. Stop being lazy and fix the bot issues.

I highly doubt the thread was even referred to.

Basically. If Jagex actually checked the forums, that'd mean the majority of the playerbase that doesn't want a braindead echo chamber would be on here.
If slayer is a skill, then I guess these slayer drop tables catered to skillers by pumping out so many resources. :)

what do we pay them for?

New quests, bosses, gear, content, areas, and so much more.

server stability.. you should check your net if you having problems i have yet to experience any issues with servers, so it sounds like a you problem.
also what you think is easy? the helm rework? so you work at jagex and know what they do and how easy things are? LOL

stop crying about the bots, yes there are a lot of not as many as you're making it out to be.

just report them and move on.

I would much rather anyone PK in game than do so irl. If you wanna get it out, do it on an online platform please. I don't want anyone getting harmed physically. :(

Theres light at the end of the tunnel, ive been reporting revenant bots for quite a while, sadly they don't stop (probably phishing accs) but i see less and less of the same names, it clearly looks like they are getting banned. Like many people probably already stated, there will always be bots in this game :( Imagination is more important than knowledge.

Allow me to shed some light on the issue.

It is relatively easy to ban an account that is pure botting, that is, using botting software that communicates with the game's software. The backend of the game's software can pick up on this communication, and the ban follows.

The problem these days is that most "bots" are actually real players using software to assist them in playing. And by "real player", I don't mean a player like you and I. Mostly, these "bots" are mass player farms in organized operations where one human may be running 5 or 10 or more accounts all at once. This modicum of human input into the situation makes it much harder to detect if the account is a "bot" or not. These bot farms run by real people are used for RWT or even account trading.

So, these days, the best the bot detection systems can do in many cases is express the likelihood of botting as a probability, essentially amassing evidence in favor for or against the botting decision. In this framework, reports, the botting detection systems, and manual inspection of the data are all useful pieces of evidence to help decide if an account is botting or not.

The issue here is that it cannot with 100% probability catch all bots. If it did, it'd catch tons of "false positives", genuine players who were not botting. This would be a PR disaster. Instead, the system in place now opts for allowing some percentage (maybe 10% or 20%) of the bots to "slip through" in an effort to minimize the number of legitimate players banned as a result.

The rub in the ointment here is that it is impossible to achieve both results: 1) ban all bots and 2) not ban legitimate players. The best that can be done, statistically, is to minimize 2 while keeping 1 at reasonable levels. It is 100% certain, though, that some percentage of bots will not ever get caught. It's a necessary tradeoff. There is no better way.
