It's time to ban third party clients. Zero tolerance. Account bans. The works.

It's a cancer that's been allowed to spread for too long. Jagex has set a few guidelines. These guidelines are not going to lead to a healthier game. It just means that these clients just have new "rules" that they will try their hardest to skirt around without outright breaking them.

It happened last time, and it will happen again. Then Jagex will release another announcement, banning whatever overpowered plugin the client has. Then the client will hastily remove it, and find some other part of the game to break. And so on.

Besides, detecting alternate clients and enforcing the rules in that way is a lot easier than trying to individually identify specific overpowered plugins. Why should Jagex go out of their way to protect players that use these clients at all?

Just end it now, it's already been going on long enough. The more Jagex waits, the worse this problem will get.
Don't forget – RuneScape members get TWO free spins a day instead of the usual one!

Support as always, Miu. I'll add you in-game should I ever return upon seeing these clients all banned. I would much rather anyone PK in game than do so irl. If you wanna get it out, do it on an online platform please. I don't want anyone getting harmed physically. :(

I've been around the wheelhouse a long time. My account isn't the oldest--I didn't play RS1, but it is over a decade old now, and let me tell you that I quit for 5 years, came back and found RS had split to RS3 and OSRS and was pleased. Then I found out there was alternate clients. I knew *absolutely nothing* about current "politics" I'll call it about what's going on in OSRS and you know what the very first thing that came to my mind when I heard there was alternate clients? Mistake.

My first impression remains unchanged. 3rd party clients are a mistake and need to be permanently blocked. Work out what you will do with the whiners after the fact, but while that future is murky, the future where you don't remove them is clear as day--decay and eventual death of this game.

Most players would be more than happy to use the official client, if it wasn't complete garbage.
After using 3rd party clients for years, myself and many others simply arent willing to go back to the absolute bare-bones experience that is the default client unless it is updated.

The majority of us agree that game-breaking plugins, such as Zulrah helper, should not be allowed. However, there are many plugins that enhance the OSRS experience by a lot, without hurting the game. Some examples are GPU rendering, animation smoothing, and simple things such as displaying jewelry charges.

Nearly all popular MMOs have some sort of addons that players use to customize and enhance their experience. It is your choice to play on a lesser client, and you should not rally so quickly to ban what is enjoyable for others.

"Why should Jagex go out of their way to protect players that use these clients at all?" Because Jagex realize that making things that don't influence xp rates or pvm mechanics more inconvenient for the sake of being pure, or old school, isn't good game design. Because over 50% of the player base use 3pc (and half of those that don't are probably using botting clients instead), and banning them all would literally kill the game.
We must smash the iron ceiling and end the oppressive maintriarchy.

This. I find my botting and macro features to be more enjoyable. If they added them into the vanilla client, I'd play on it.

They should fix it sooner than later. It's their fault for letting it get this far.
