Third party clients have been around since Swift Switch was popular back in 2005.
And they've historically been against the rules since 2007.

OSBuddy, Runelite, they exist because people are too lazy to figure shit out on their own which is why they'll always vouch for fast switching between worlds and looking up efficiency rates for various skills.
And just like people that are too lazy to play and use bots, they don't belong in the game.

If Jagex wants to help rid of these third party clients then they need to come up with a client of their own that's worth a flying fuck.
Agreed with improving their client. Cajjj said:
Their client is a complete joke. It's hardly any better than playing this game off the browser just like I did back in 2004 when RS2 was brand new.
If that's a bad thing for you, however, then maybe OSRS isn't the right game for you.
Don't forget – RuneScape members get TWO free spins a day instead of the usual one!

As for your comment, you can want something all you want, it just wont happen till they fix their vanilla client.

Jagex isnt going to waste thalf their player base on something like this, there a reason why they are prolonging this, they trying to find best way to handle this to make as many people happy as they can. thanks

I've got no problem with Jagex improving their own client, and even offering multiple different clients themselves. If Jagex's client runs poorly, then players should be able to get a better client from Jagex, rather than have to turn to third parties and risk both their account security and risk getting banned.

That's a separate issue from people turning to third party clients to automate and remove player inputs from their game for the sake of "convenience."
im all for them removing 3pc, but if they are smart they will update their client first then remove 3pc.

but since all these years they havent done squat to their own client, they are literally forcing people to 3pc.
remember not everyone uses 3pc for the broken plugins, quite a few use it due to it allowing them to play the game, such as vanilla client does work for every ones operating system, or for me, it makes the game run smooth compared the vanilla client, im sure most people wouldnt have a issue leaving 3pc but jagex doesnt seem to care.
so if they dont care then people will continue to use 3pc to play the game.

Yeah, basically. I understand things like that and especially how Linux needs an official client. I'll gladly support shit like that.
Botting profits are now under control thanks to revs and Raids. :)

That's 12 years now. There's really no excuse for Jagex to have sat around for this long.

Plenty of people used OSBuddy and other clients consistently since 2013. I myself used the official Runescape client then when I saw some guys on Twitch.tv use OSBuddy, I never looked back.

People aren't going to go back to a barebones client that lacks even simple features like a XP Table or an Efficiency chart to determine how many potions you need to make to reach 99 Herblore. That doesn't break the rules. The overpowered indicators break the game.

What are they going to do?

It's been too many years and far too long now to just punish people for using a third party client they've used daily. Third party clients have been popular since 2005 - 2006, as the years passed more options became available, now to the point where these clients have a huge advantage over someone playing on just the official Runescape client.

The best Jagex can do is make a client of their own that has useful features that they know people are going to want to have. Playing this game barebones doesn't cut it anymore.

Can’t see them ever banning them unless they spend a lot of time and effort to replicate some of the features in the vanilla client. If they banned them right now, a lot of players would quit and Jagex can’t afford for that to happen.
