Armadyl doesn't *know* that Sliske isn't a god, though. I think that ambiguity is what Sliske is counting on. I like to imagine that the gods can sense divine power, but having them all together in MPD like Sliske arranged made them unsure if what they were sensing was coming from Sliske or from each other.
If they knew for sure Sliske wasn't a god, he would be dead by now. Heck, he'd be dead *during MPD*. That's also where the "keeping Death hostage" thing comes in. The gods would be taking a gamble by trying to smite him then and there.
Attempt to have Sliske suffer a lethal heart attack while he's grandstanding. If he's bluffing about being a god, then you win. But if he isn't bluffing, he survives and has a second spare to off Death...
