So I've just retrieved Seren memories on Freneskae and finished CoM last week and Seren was standing out. She was Evil.

So I'm going to type some of the memories over here. Which means spoilers ahead.

Mother:
I would do anything for my companion to prove my devotion, as he would to show his adoration. When we are apart, however, I am more coherent; I can think and feel more clearly. He thinks this is some form of control forced upon us by Mah, so that we will always strive to remain close to each other and her. I urge him to stay with us, but he intends to leave. He does not see - or dies not care - that Mah acted not out of malice; only fear of being alone. Without her we would not excist. I owe it to her to stay, to soothe my creator. I cannot leave her alone... she needs me.
Dreams:
Whenever lucid, Mah cries out for Zaros. I do what I can to comfort her, but that is not much. What Zaros saw as her controlling is, I see as her protecting us... and now it is my turn to protect her. She sleeps more than anything these days, and her dreams manifest - they are pale imitation of Zaros and myself, their bodies not even formed entirely of crystal. They are a waste of what little energy she clings to. Perhaps I can find some way to return their power back to her, if only to keep her lucid. Some make pilgrimages up the volcano to Mah, calling themselves her children, I pose as her to warn them off. I intend to visit them in this guise. If they are so in awe of her, then they might sacrifice their own energy to restore her.
Hi

Nightmares:
Her dreams have become violent nightmares. The beings she manifest now are grotesque and purely instinctual. At least these muspah keep the tribes at bay. Mah is comatose now, and there is nothing more I can do for her. This planet's anima is all but depleted, and the rituals only manage to quell her nightmares for a time. Even when she does lapse back into semi-consciousness, all she does is wail and scream and hurt herself. For such times, I taught the tribes how to drain some of her energy and use it to create more of their kind. It broke my heart to do this, but without some equilibrium, Mah would likely rip this planet apart. For all the power she instilled in me, I am powerless to help. Once she is stable, I plan to leave. Perhaps out there, I can find Mah's sisters - maybe they can do something for her, if only to ease her passing.
Peace:
Until now, my search has been fruitless and mournful, but I have finally discovered a world with life - a beautiful race of creatures, filled with joy, who live in harmony with their verdant world. There is a strong sign here of a creator's hand - perhaps the indigenous life knows something of that creator's whereabouts. I shaped myself in their image and revealed myself to them, fearful of what effect I might have on them, but hopefil that they could point the way. They loved me from the first, but I did not cause it - they chose to do so! It was not a result of the control Mah instilled in me; at least, I do not believe that to be the case.It feels even more intoxicationg, but I remain cogent. I can only surmise that what Mah created artificially has been manifested naturally with these beings. I see now what Mah did to us was wrong, but this feels so right! Could it be as simple as the right to choose? Never shall I leave their side.

So in 'mother' Seren said she owes Mah to stay and that Mah needs Seren. She later left the planet to find help for Mah. (good) But when she meets the elves she would never leave their side, and thus abandon her mission to resque her mother. (bad)
During 'dreams' Seren said the mahjarrat are a waste of Mah's energy and that she intends to return their energy into mah (aka exterminating the unworthy mahjarrat). This is also why she created the ritual, yet, during CoM she said something in the lines of 'I didn't mean it'. But those were evidently her intentions, including the part where they had to sacrifice their own kind. Yes, she also taught them how to create more mahjarrat. But she only taught them this ritual so that Mah would calm down and some equilibrium would be maintained.
In 'Nightmares' she said that once Mah is stable she intends to leave. I think this has something to do with the crystalls in Mah's core. Something Seren used to stabilise Mah.
In 'Peace' Seren meets the elves. And the elves love Seren. She doesn't know if they love her because of her control or because of something in the elves. I think it is a "love-aura" around Seren. Just like the loyalty aura around Zaros. As Zaros feels "affection" towards Seren and Seren feels "devotion" towards Zaros. In CoM Seren explains that she has a similar mind-entering power as Zaros. So it is not unreasonably to assume that the "aura" effect that Zaros has also applies to Seren. Around the elves she notes that the effects are stronger, just like Zaros' effect around weaker creatures. But unlike Zaros, Seren has NEVER left her followers. This means that they have always been under her aura of control! In 'dreams' Seren sees what Zaros saw as control as protection, so her control of the elves is just to "protect" the elves.
Also how did the mahjarrat learn how to talk when Zaros discovered it on another planet.

I think that Seren is perfectly aware of being inconsistent, because she might be even more manipulative than Zaros. With crystals everywhere around the elves she is capable of forcing them to remain loyal whilst the player remains protected in prifdinass because of Guthix's protection. This also explains her scream at the end of CoM. For the people that didn't return the Dark Lord, this ment the rebirth of the Dark Lorth in her, and for the other players it ment the resurfacing of the repressed Dark Lord. Thus, expect to see evil Seren during the next couple of quests. (It might be that those quests will focus on the dark lord in Seren mind)

So what do you think, is Seren evil or am I completely wrong?

I dont see Seren as evil, but as Naive, she is the perfect example of "Good intentions are not enought", she has tried solving many problems yet they have terrible consecuences she didnt try to avoid. She is more like the Elder sister who always stays near her mother, and its useless in the outside world since all she did was care for her mother, she lacks the experience to act a for herself. Like a small child sometimes, that cant see how evil is sometimes needed in the world.

She may not be evil but she certainly had that chewing out in CoM a long time coming from the mahjarrat. She's the reason there's only a handful of them left, slowly cannibalising each other until they go extinct, which lead to their selfish and ruthless nature that has made them infamous and hated by most races on Gielinor. Headcanon Haven, where everything is made up and the points don't matter.

"Evil" connotes ill will. Seren, even with all her flaws, is almost certainly benevolent. So no, not evil.

It would be a pretty cool twist, though.

Do you really think you can save them, Raleirosen? You can't. There is a grinding darkness against which your soul will be lathed. And this is Seren.

Xau-Tak references aside, I do agree that it's the intent that separates good from evil. Most gods and factions are good in that manner, and Seren does mean well.

That completely disregards that she also taught them how to reproduce, and that ZAROS is the one who taught and enabled them to perform rituals on Gielinor They would have been dead entirely without her.
You never were our brightest star, Khazard. 'Vermin slaughtered like lambs'? What does that even mean?

Seren manipulated them to keep a monster alive when she should have just taught them how to breed and allow the world to suffer one less Elder God. Her lack of action can't be excused either. The Chelon-Mah warped the ritual and their entire tribe was wiped out. The Mahserrat were too focused on morality to kill each other. You would think that Seren, of all people, would have sympathized with that and found another way to help them, but no.

What she did was purely for Mah. She did not care for the state of her children. Like Zaros, she saw them as a waste, and like Zaros she manipulated them to her own ends. It is no different.
Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.
