I readed the transcript of the End game on the wiki, and i came a cross some interesting dialogue between the 2 Z's.


Zaros and Zamorak

With either entourage absent

Zamorak: Of course, while we're both here, stripped of our powers...
Zaros: Yes?
Zamorak: This would be the perfect time to complete the rebellion.
Zaros: By killing me?
Zamorak: Yes.
Zaros: And will you do so?
Zamorak: It is very, very tempting, but no.
Zaros: Why not?
Zamorak: Because the rebellion is thousands of years in the past. Because you helped to save my people again. Because we share a mother? But also because perhaps... I finally realise that I have nothing to prove to you. In your absence I have conquered worlds. I have brought death to whole races and brought redemption and renewed hope to others. Six thousand years ago I wanted to prove I could be a better leader than you. I have since proven that a hundred times over.
Zaros: Good. It was always my hope for you that you would fulfil your potential. I simply did not anticipate it coming in the form it did.
Zamorak: Yes, you said that to me back then as well. When I first became a general of your armies and swore to do your bidding. We have not spoken like this in so long. My lord, I feel...'loyal'... Wait...
Zaros brings a single finger to the lips of his mask, signalling quiet.
Zaros: Sliske must not know. I will not take advantage of you.
Zamorak: Then this feeling of calm...?
Zaros: It is not real. Your rage will return. Your rage at me, in particular. But I urge you Zamorak, for the sake of the warlord who once showed so much promise, and the righteous divinity you have become: do not let it master you. Come, we must go.
Zamorak: Goodbye my l... Zaros.

I must say i'm slightly disappointed that Zamorak is slowly getting under the effect of Zaros his "aura". I always asumed Zamorak was strong enough to withstand it, Zaros himself said Zamorak has a strong wil and all.

Still it is rather interesting how it went and what Zaros says.

Something worth discussing heh?

The aura affects any mortal susceptible to god magic. In the maze, Zamorak was, temporarily, a mortal once more.

Remember that Zamorak's Coup only started coming together after Zaros withdrew from the empire and the effects of his aura started wearing off.

The more interesting implication is why he didn't want Sliske to be aware of the aura.

Or maybe that's supposed to hint that Zaros wasn't ever affected by the 'de-god-ing' magic Sliske had in the maze. Such an immunity would explain why he and Seren (if he can do it, so can she) were able to remain in the maze when the other 'losers' were expelled.

Though we'd then be left wondering why Seren's love aura didn't affect him. Or maybe it did, and that's the only reason he let the opportunity to attack her go despite how much he hates her.

What @Hgugh said, Zamorak was able to rebel against the aura because he was away, Zamorak was smart and figured Zaros was using a sort of curse that makes people loyal. (of course Zaros is not doing it on purpose) Like Zaros said, the feeling he had was not real, it would return again soon. I would assume after the game, it did.

I think the Seren incident was more down to hunting down the Stone as quickly as possible than anything else. As for Zaros, they do seem to have come to an understanding since the final ritual. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

Or maybe he just really did hate her because of her false manipulation towards the Mahjarrat, remember in children of mah, Zamorak, even the other mahjarrat stated that they felt her aura before, So their Zamorak's hate over her could be stronger. But would he really want to take the chance and fight us when we defeated most of his kind in battle? (World Wakes is an example)

If Zamorak hated her to the extent where he would have been willing to fight us to get at her, he wouldn't have walked off and been preoccupied with the maze. Instead he would have trampled us harder than Sliske, especially as he was a stronger Mahjarrat and a war general before ascending. He liked melee as well. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

A couple of possibilities.

1) After CoM, Zaros would be much stronger than before and Seren much weaker, especially after TLW. This might effect their aura strength.

2) Depending on the canonical order, Zamorak might have simply been caught off guard by Zaros and managed to brace himself when he saw Seren. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

and that's not the love aura or anything and it's not anything mah did, it's just that she's the only person in the universe who's anything like him Carn
