Is it within the realm of possibility that Temekel, the strongest mahjarrat there ever was, could still be alive and just trapped within the Kharid-ib? I mean, we know Mahjarrat have souls, since Seren and Zaros do (TLW/FOTG: healing dear sister's fractured soul with light beams and what not), and also, Temekel apparently died within proximity to the Kharid-ib.

The Kharid-ib, for those that don't know, is a magic diamond that can trap nearby people's souls and unleash them into dead bodies to make zombies (Letter signed by Pontifex), and the people inside them do have some consciousness of what is going on outside the diamond, like when a few of the trapees started cringing about how Amascut was going to devour them all when she got a hold of the diamond.

This wasn't the first time everyone thought Temekel was dead. It could be funny to see the reaction on Bilrach's face when he finds out he is still alive—ugh. Also, it just seems odd for Jagex to announce that he was the strongest Mahjarrat above Azzanadra just to just kill him off like that. Mod Jack called him a "badass Mahjarrat," even though we didn't see him in action, and it just hints that we may know more about him in the future.

And in case someone wants to use the rebuttal of "oh, there would have been a strange power and what not," I think the strange powers are only unleashed when a Mahjarrat's divine body is destroyed, releasing all the trapped energy. There is nothing in lore that states that strange powers has anything to do with a Mahjarrat's soul being eviscerated. However, this shouldn't matter because we didn't get any detail in the "Letter signed to Pontifex" book whether a strange power even did occur or not. The same could also be said about the Mahjarrat race-tracking thing. Maybe they are able to track their "body energy" and not their soul. This is supported by how Azzanadra couldn't track his race when he was in the pyramid.

Well, at one point Azzanadra had his power or something siphoned into those diamonds we had to use to free him during Desert Treasure didn't he? Or was that retconned at some point? Because I can see Temekel willingly doing something similar if he knew his days were numbered and decided to have a backup plan just in case he ended up kicking the bucket.

If Azzanadra, Hazeel, and Sliske (post-SE) can preserve their consciousness in some form of existence (Azzanadra in four diamonds, Sliske in us, Hazeel in however the heck he managed to survive), I bet Temekel can be revived, too. :)

He could be and it would be cool if he is, and I hope he will be revived alongside Tumeken when we finally get the Kharid-ib back and foil/complete Amascut's plan which I believe to be a revive desert dad type of plan. I also hope Tumeken is revealed to be a child of Mah as well.

as far as I know, the new hazeel has him being put into a somewhat unconscious state with magic... either because they couldn't just kill him or because they wanted him to suffer.
azzanadra's power was put into the diamonds, but he stayed in the pyramid

spirit and soul, I think are separate things in runescape. Soul means afterlife, spirit just means the part of you that's left over after you take away the body. So a soul's a spirit (and slightly more than one) but a spirit's not a soul. If mahjarrat didn't have spirits, they'd just be very advanced robots and nobody should care more about them than they would a valuable piece of tech

I imagine the entire point of Temekel was to make the world of Freneskae more real and introducing mahjarrat that aren't around anymore would do that... it wouldn't make sense for the current group of mahjarrat to always have been the most interesting. That would be like your grandfather telling you a story about his childhood, but the only character he ever mentions is himself... mentioning his parents, siblings, friends would make him more of a real person in the stories he tells
Also wouldn't make sense that azzy is just always the strongest and that there wasn't a 'strongest' before him

and ofcourse tem's not around anymore so they needed to make up a story about how he died and make it suitably epic. Make him loyal to Tumeken while we're at it, because it's unlikely all the mahjarrat would have turned to Zaros. He fights off several mahjarrat and some other chaps and they're pretty much confirmed dead until Bil grabs the Ib. Sounds epic enough to me.

I believe that our Jagexian overlords have a plaque at the entrance to the building which they have to slap every day on their way into work that states, "What's True Today isn't necessarily true tomorrow!"

That being said, If Temekel is still "alive," it's doubtful that it's in his original form. As has been stated, Azzanadra's power was held in the Desert Treasure crystals, Sliske apparently is Valkorion, so perhaps Mahjarrat have an ability to remove themselves from their physical form (kind of like their big brother Zaros, come to think of it). This is merely speculation, but if it is true, then that would raise some interesting questions.

First, if they share the ability to leave their body with Mah's other kids (I do believe it was speculated that Guthix may have also gained this power as he grew in power), can their bodies be rebuilt using Elder energy? If you put enough Elder energy into it, could you build your own Mahjarrat servant (by building a body without a mind/spirit/soul to put in it)?

Next, if you took a Mahjarrat gem, could you revive one who is literally deceased? Could Big Z Sr. be brought back? What about the other female Mahjarrat? Could more potential mates be brought into the mix?

There's definitely nothing that for sure says that he's dead forever, but that's pretty much true of everyone except the dead gods (loarnab aside, as I dont think he's dead or confirmed dead)

There just might not be a reason for the season bringing him back. Tumeken doesn't *need* him, and there's already one mahjarrat who's neither zarosian or zamorakian.
The only thing that he might come back for is fanservice for people who want a rematch between him and azzy (not that they ever fought, just that they were both contenders for most powerful mahjarrat)

Likely not.

I think he just served as foreshadowing for Tumeken returning, although it didn't make much sense to make Tumeken out to be some vengeful sun god, it was still a worthy death.

Now, I say worthy I mean rather pathetic. Lucien could barely lift a sword and guess who did him in :p
