In the recent summer videos, we learned that four areas are being added to the survey for a possible 2017 release: Menaphos, the Skull region of the Eastern Lands, the Underwater City, and a mysterious land we get to discover ourselves.

On top of those, we get the Arc region of the Eastern Lands this year.

Given we've got so much new stuff potentially coming, I thought I would see what regions you guys were looking forward to and what you want to learn lore-wise when we go there (either via Quests, Miniquests, NPCs, Books, etc).

The Arc is up first, and it was mentioned that we'd get a series of Miniquests in the Arc that basically were becoming as large as a quest when added together. What would you like to see from these miniquests? Would you like an expansion on the bits of lore we've learned through ports? Brand-new information? Pursuing that one issue from the Mega May cases? Developing characters like the Architect further, since we'll get to her island? Develop the Cyclops race and their culture on Cyclopsis? Deal with the slave trade of Waiko or the Xenophobia of Goshima? How about the Soothsayers, Seasingers, and Sirens of Tuai Leit or the legendary Shuma of Whale's Maw? Plus The Islands That Were Once Turtles.

Menaphos is said to be the City of the Dead and may host the Soul Altar. What do you want to further learn about the desert civilization? Perhaps lore about the Soul Altar itself? Do you want to meet more of the desert gods, resolve the issues with Amascut, or dig deep into the city to find out about its most famous former citizens turned mummies?

The Underwater City is an oldie, but a classic idea. How did this civilization fall, and its ruins end up under the sea? Is anyone/anything left? Do you want to explore it and return with historical artifacts? Maybe add to the Varrock Museum again? Find ancient stone depictions of the past? Perhaps even quest to restore the city to some of its former greatness, and learn more about the city pre-water.

The Skull region of the Eastern lands would be an interesting followup to the Arc. While the Arc gives us Bamboo, the Skull gives us Gunpowder. This could lead to a lot of interesting lore in the development of weapons and maybe some additions to Invention.

The Khans in this area seem far worse than in the Arc, with Ai Jei's ruling the primary gunpowder and apple trade on the biggest island being very territorial and anti-foreigner. Echo Bay's khan is known to be cruel as well, this island known for its explosive fishing. Hanto is closed off to trade by its Khan, who executes people publicly.

The Sunlit Veil is a notorious stopping point for Mermaids. Thalassia (home of the Thalassus?) is where sulfur is mined for the gunpowder, and its Khan has built a massive Jade Palace. Hyu-Ji is home of the Sea Orphans, and Siren's Shell is home to the Sirens. The Seeker Synapse is a literal living island, while Reggie's Gunpowder Mills is apparently where the best gunpowder is produced.

The Mysterious Continent is the oddest one in the bunch because we know so little. It's something we've gotta discover ourselves. What would you like to find in a land few, if any, have ever explored?

The Underwater city has always been close to my heart, I've always enjoyed Atlantis style fantasy and it'd be great to bring it into Runescape. As for the lore I'd personally want a few ties to Xau-Tak since I imagine it'd be tied to the Pirate series in some way.

The Skull I'd wait until we see how the Arc goes before hyping it, Personally looking forward to the Sirens shell and Seeker Synapse, the rest just have bullying Khans.

Menaphos I have no love for. I really really do not like the Desert, its people or most of the quests. Not much else I can say.

The Mystery continent, Vast amounts of potential. Possibly what I'd want to the most. Sadly I doubt it'll do well on the survey but I think it's a fantastic idea. New races, cultures, resources, quest opportunities, gods maybe?

For the mystery island, if it is successful, I really hope they tap into Native American lore, and culture. The Aztecs have many interesting things for Jagex to draw from.

Menaphos is the city of the dead because Amascut is psycho.. so thanks, Mah.

Underwater city is Atlantis, and Xau-Tak is there in some form or another... That being said, I still want Pirate quest.

The Skull is... if you wanna know, go do Ports.

Mysterious Land? No thanks. If I wanted obvious OSRS content, I'd go play OSRS.

Do you think Xau-Tak was the one who sunk the Underwater City in the first place?

Honestly, I feel the Pirate Questline could use both the Underwater City and the Eastern Lands well (the Arc especially since that's where the East and West most often meet).

There are more islands than that without detail on Cruel Khans. The Sunlit Veil's mermaid visiting has me curious as to what we could learn about their culture. I also like the idea that with Thalassia, we may find out what happened to the Thalassus. Echo Bay's explosive fishing has me curious as to if it relates to Mogres or not.

That said, I do agree, how the Arc does could affect how we feel about the Skull (though I am hopeful).

Fair enough on Menaphos, though I can't help but be curious about this long sealed-off city.

I completely agree about the Mysterious Continent being intriguing. There's so much potential there if done right.

The mysterious continent can be anything it wants or needs to be and can end up as large as has to be. And keep expanding if done right. In other words it has the potential to double the game world size ( or more eventually) no more cramped cites where a soldier in varrock can spit on a guard in Falador. Metaphorically speaking. Not when some wilderness can be in between, large enough for small towns to pop up, player made if possible! And teleports would mean something again. There is a vast potential.

The fact is it has so much potential that it would be almost criminal not to grab it and hold on tight.

As a side note (and this is not serious but for laughs) The Elves have the potential to pack up their whole city in a few crystals and transplant it there:P

Waste of Zarosian lore development time. Azzanadra is disappointed.

And what if there was a lost Zarosian colony there?

As I said, it has the potential to contain anything ;)
