It depends on if those players who cashed out absolutely need another phat, right this second, or if treat just as an investment. Perhaps they saw that they are selling at a peak, and are moving onto other investments, until they feel phats have bottomed out again. Just another possibility.

I will add to that, that demand does go away and all these people are holding phats, they will have to end up offering phats for lower and lower amounts, until they can bring buyers back into the market.

I have seen this one before. A lot of them are interested too much in gp to simply hold their phats

Why would you ever sell a hat,unless you can think of a better investment that you can easily pour 10b+ into.
You can gamble on selling at a peak,some people succeed but then quiet a few of them forget to buy it back. Many players who had hats since the early days lost some or all of their hats this way. (and i almost lost mine that way as well 2 years ago).
Hats been dropping for a week? i didnt notice that but then again there is barely any updates on hats posted anymore in the other thread. It would be nice if they drop,then i can buy the one i want for a decent price.

The only people who will dump hats i think are either investors at the very end of the curve (which i think we are not even close to) or flippers who flip 1 or 2 hats and who want to prevent taking a loss when hats stop going up and start to go down even a little bit.
Its still a good time to buy hat for long term investment imo,the odds that purple will go back to 8-9b are non existent imo,10-15% downside max and the upside i see as beeing at least 50% within 12 months. But thats for lazy investors and collectors,if you flip them every day then i guess its different.

Hats are okay, but most players are priced out of that market. That's why they've lagged behind the return of something like a santa hat, percentage-wise in the last three years. Purple may have gone from 9 to 12 in a short period, but santa went from 800 to a peak of 1750 ... almost 2x its price! There is just so much more potential for money to be put up for a cheaper rare like a santa hat, than for people to even get into the phat market.

And the phat performance hasn't been steller until this recent run. Look at blue, it went from 29B in 2017 to under 18B. It slowly raised up, taking years to breach 20, 22. And only now did it reach its 29B peak again. I don't see that as great performance.

It's more likely for an item like a santa hat, which is popular, and looks good, to rise closer to phats than for phats to reach mythological levels of pcs, I think. Regarding phats, one question is:

Which item will rise more quickly: Santa, Scythe, Phat, CTH, Pumpkin, Wine, H'ween, some random token, etc. (Fish?) I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity.
