we've had the ed3 bots pumping in huge amounts of gold for months now this could've contributed to the problem, bots used to dump huge amounts of useful raw materials for the gold now they are just getting it straight away from there

and maybe the people running these bots finally figured out that keeping huge gp piles in the bank is a waste and are buying up the popular consumables to make a little extra gp with the idle gp

ED3 bots definitely play a role, but I also think that's just the nature of the game. This isn't real life where inflation is *supposed* to be 2%/yr on average. Since the RSC, GP/hr money making methods have been more profitable over time, resulting in inflation. If you figure in the early years you could maybe make 500k-1m/hr if you knew what you were doing, where now you can easily make 5m/hr doing something relaxing, up to 20m+(maybe even 50? idk) an hour at a boss. If you compare runite ore mining,(probably one of/if not the best money makers back then) making 750k/hr(based off alch value, though rune was more back then) to todays money making, you'd get about 18% increase of gp/hr year over year, which is basically the inflation rate in a sense(though not all of this is always raw gp). Along with the fact that many old items have fallen to their alch value(dragonstone jewelry, battlestaffs, dragonfire shields, godswords/blades). Invention also has helped lower tiered items stay higher in price, which pushes all tiers above it up in price too(otherwise it would be more economical to use higher tiered gear for dissasembling). Overtime this adds up into a big pool of money/items at alch value. Rare items only go up, so it only makes sense to store your gp in them. They could add a gold sink, such as a staking tax, but I'm not sure how the community would receive it, especially if it meant making items no longer stakeable. G.E. tax would also destroy the economy. Personally, I like the idea of them just creating a new currency such as platinum tokens like osrs has, where 1 platinum token can be obtained from any banker for 1000gp. Then create a Premium Grand Exchange to allow for platinum token transactions(only for items traded over 1b+), except make it located in the G.E. on the northern wall or something just to distinguish them since the G.E. is bugged as it is and having the G.E. uncheck your currency from platinum to GP would be a big F.

Thank youtubers and the "afk bosses guides" :), thats the one of the real problems. They F#@$ the rs economy, but worth for the views i guess?

Afking a boss should reduce the value of the drops, not cause inflation... Unless the boss drops and insane amount of alchs. As far as I know spiritual warriors and ed3 drop a lot more alchs than afk gwd1/2

That is not even in top 100, not connected to anything.
The action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.

After returning back from OSRS, I was definitely surprised to see how cheap some of the T70 was vs. select T80+ armour and weapons. As someone who's not a huge PvM fan, rather finding solace in skilling, the only real method to afford anything worthwhile at my level bracket would be to PvM because yes, things are quite inflated -- especially in comparison :P.

But alas, it's to be expected when the economy's been around a couple decades with many of the same people pumping more and more into it to every degree.

I thought about replyin to this for lots of reasons over past few days, and I wanted to disagree and say "you can do it!" about goin to get yer own pieces to make fsoa, or dark shart of ling (the reason death lotus stay in barrels), but... actually... I agree.

I found and sold a blood dye for 3b maybe 2 yrs ago? Now its 6b!? argh. Yeah I looked cause I want to blood dye the glaesword. Now I might not. 6b is a lot. Geez.

The mad hats and their price fixing is one thing, but... woo... I wish I could say I knew what would happen if they raised the cap on our coin pouches and GE. I know the mad hats would roar again just like when they got news they had to vacate fally gardens. I think it'd make certain things more expensive for a minute, but it might just end their price fixing conspiracy too.

Imagine "item discussion" with NO price fixing threads at all. Imagine it was just a place where people debated stuff like "blowpipe vs decimation" and made argument like... throw applies poison and arrow has 3 more squares of distance it can attack from. In order for that to happen I would have to be able to search GE like ebay for "blood dye" and see how many have sold, when, possibly to whom, for how much, etc. Right now only Timbo can see that, and he is the only guy who can adjust GE prices... like the shard is some silly amt GE mid like 130m and it should be 1.3b right? Timbo will shove that correction thru in a few days, and he left it low... because... idk. it doesnt drop for coinshare people, so idek why its like that. sigh.

any of these make sense the GE mid value is low at release. kinda.

caveat: I do not mean, ever, that you should be able to search GE and see something like "j.r. kerr sold 300 water talismans at 1k gp ea" but more like "300k water talismans sold to members, 30k sold to pmods, 5k sold to free players, 30k were sold by free players, 300k were sold by members" etc. its kinda like that at ebay. you can't see the name of the highest bidder, but you can see their feedback parenthetically noted next to their asterixed out name, and this informs you if the sale went to a high flow flipper type, or to a real person.
