@94burkush
You need to create your own thread, this one is about the new rules.

I would like to see more under the heading of 'solicitation' to make it clear that more casual advances, as well as grooming, are not acceptable behaviour.

Well they are indeed correct that RS is not a dating website.

It is however a video game. Anyways, moving forward:

The section covering games of chance is pure hypocrisy on Jagex's part given the existence of Treasure hunter, which is in fact, constituted as a game of chance under Jagex's own definition since you can buy keys with real world money for a chance at a lucrative prize such as the 200m cash prize, that is very much gambling.

The bug abuse section reeks of lies too.

The fact that they said they ban people who exploit bugs is also a straight up lie, case in point: Elite dungeon 3: The Shadow reef. Players who abused that bug that respawned bosses, in this case Kranon the Ambassador, over and over profited in the billions in game thus gaining a huge advantage over those who chose not too. Nice bit of hypocrisy once again.

Maybe Jagex as a company should enforce and follow the same rules they set on their users to set a example, but I understand if that's asking too much of them.

Further more on the gambling hypocrisy: Runescape requires every player to be aged 13 or above according to their terms and conditions. Last I checked, 13 year old can't participate in casino's. What they are doing with treasure hunter in most cases should be illegal in many countries. Why it isn't is beyond me.

Ah, found it.

Section 4. You may not create an account if you are under 13 and it is a violation to create an account for someone under 13.

So, they offer gambling services like TH on a game aimed at teenagers. Nice going Jagex.

I don't think it's classed as gambling if it doesn't cost you anything.
TH prizes are a free giveaway as part of your membership - all you're doing in TH is selecting the free gift you want.

I'm sure Jagex have lawyers who would have looked into this in great detail.

My first post explicitly cites that TH keys can very much be bought with REAL WORLD money which in exchange for said real world money gives you a chance at a lucrative prize such as 200m or literally any other reward on the purple slot of the TH. Red too in some cases.

Last I checked, a chance means there's every chance you won't be getting the 200m prize or even landing on the purple slot at all, as is often the case.

Please explain to me how paying real world money for a chance at a desired item on TH does not resemble gambling outlets like the lottery.

Just because you dont get what you want doesnt mean you dont get anything at all.

So with TH you always get something hence why it isnt gambling.

Gambling implies the chance of winning nothing which isnt possible with TH.

It's really hard to call TH gambling when we have the oddments store. You get some with every spin and you can cash in unwanted prizes for more. Also if you want GP you can buy bonds apparently.

Weak.

Multiple logging in being officially endorsed by Jagex.

Also, the rules claim interacting with the game world without logging in is against the rules. Does that mean pinging the world servers to check your latency with them is against the rules?

They also claim that hiding adverts is against the rules, but AFAIK Jagex hasn't used adverts on their websites for some years now.
Don't forget ľ RuneScape members get TWO free spins a day instead of the usual one!
