Hi all,

This is a post requesting Jagex have a stronger P Mod presence in the W308 Anvil community. If OSRS General is not the right place, could a Mod please move to appropriate forum? (I could not think of a better fit).

I've been a member of W308 Anvil for awhile now and I see quite a lot of chat spam bots at Varrock West Bank and the Grand Exchange on W308. Typically the spam bots advertise the usual range of illicit OSRS services and activities. We, as a clan, also deal with scammers quite frequently at this location. We, as a clan, recognize that not all clans or subcommunities within the broader OSRS community are represented with P Mods. However, we are a rather public-facing subcommunity and we are also primarily located in Free To Play. There is, thus, a risk that newer, naÔve players could get lured in by these bad actors and have their gameplay experience spoiled early on. A steady P Mod presence in the W308 Anvil area would be able to better remedy these problems with faster mutes for chat bots and would also serve as a deterrent to would-be scammers due to the expedited punishment that a P Mod can bring to bear. More experienced players would also, of course, benefit from the steady presence of a P Mod.

Feel free to post below showing support (whether you are part of the W308 Anvil clan or just a member of the Anvil community). :)

What are pmods supposed to do about bots besides something you can already do and thats mute/report?

Im sure they have better things to do than just sit there and have to constantly remute the same bot or mute new ones that only last so long.

Just report them in the sticky of this forum or ingame.

No need for this as its a 100% waste of time.

Player Moderators are regular players like the rest of us here. Telling them to stand at a specific location would be a breach of their voluntary duties. It's well known that Player Moderators are volunteers and they are not forced to action a certain situation if they opt to ignore it. It isn't their job to go around muting and/or reporting players. It's a voluntary position. We may all agree that Player Moderators also wish to enjoy their game time.

As for your specific concern, all you may do is report such rule-breaking scenarios so that Jagex can eventually take care of the issue at hand. Furthermore, you are also encouraged to use your Ignore List so that you do not have to see what these "spam bots" are saying in-game.

Finally, you may also use the
tipoff@jagex.com
email address to share with Jagex any concerns that you may have regarding this situation. Ideally, the best way is to report the players so that Jagex has an in-game report to look at in order to be able to tackle the situation better.

I think the lack of moderators is a big issue. Just the same, the amount of bots infecting the Runescape community is an even greater issue. I do genuinely believe that Jagex Mods are too lazy to do anything about the issue.

You do know bots get banned right?

Just because it doesnt happen right after your report doesnt mean they arent.

I think the Moderators are active and do a fantastic job and detecting all the bugs/scammers/rulebreakers, Personally I believe Jagex should just take more time to seek the best candidates to become part of the team and become moderators as well. Obviously not Jagex Mods unless Jagex sees fit, but for the most part, look and choose players who have earned the privilege to become a Moderator & in all honestly make the game a more enjoyable environment for everyone!

Respectfully,

too lazy? what do you think they do all do sit at a desk with feet up eating donuts? lmao

however to OP, adding to ignore, and reporting them yourself will be the best option. pmods dont go out looking for people to mute or report. they are players that just want to play the game
