I just wish the official client had borderless window. Even Ultima Online Classic has this fundamental basic feature for 10 years now and they have 1/100,000th the playerbase. It just gets old and is impossible to understand how a company that has more than 50 customers could justify serving official software in this state. You drive your players into the arms of these junkware clients because you wont do even the most basic trivial work to keep your software compatible with 2 generation old operating systems and user practices.

Jagex you just can’t make this community happy can you?? Consistantly pissing off the community for making HASTY decisions. Define HASTINESS you say?

Hastiness: overly eager speed (and possible carelessness)

You didn't have the common decency to announce this earlier, instead you wait 2 years!! You just wasted everyone’s time and your project isnt even remotely close to release. Takes you guys AGES TO COMPLETE PROJECTS. Large scale updates to OSRS happen so infrequently that you are losing your player base and had to change the range meta just so that the playstyle less stale. Good job nerfing an item 7 years later!
I’ve had it with you guys! Get your F’ing shit together! I cancelled my membership btw. Reason: unhappy with recent update. I hope you’re happy with yourselves.

Ready for release???? I don't remember anyone voting on this!!?? Why is developer time being spent on this when Jagex has said time and time again that OSRS HD is NOT happening?

Yet im sure jagex have said loads of things wouldnt happen in the past only to just do the exact opposite later.

So how is this any different?

Plus integrity updates are a thing so not all content gets polled.

Its not jagex making the community unhappy its the community choosing to be unhappy even though they have full rights to do what they did.

The creator was doing something they clearly werent supposed to be doing so its got shut down.

How thats so hard to understand is beyond me.

An incredibly bad move. Completely unprofessional, inconsiderate, greedy and incompetent. Unsubscribed.

EDIT:
I would have no issue if you compensate the creator of the HD client for all the hard work. This is your best move given you decide to keep the ban.

That would open pandoras box for anyone who feels like doing anything for Old School. Even small things that Jagex close down.

Sorry but no. I feel for the guy doing a project off his own back and then for Jagex to pull the plug at the 11th hour. But I'm not sure if He asked Jagex if He could do it or not.

Jagex have every right to stop projects they feel fit that others do as it'a a Copyright game and has a legal standing. You can't just make things for other games and expect the Creators to sit back and let it go and offer compensation for doing something not sanctioned by Jagex.

Thats my own personal views from a RS player of nearly 20 years.

As a long-term player who first started playing back in 2005, and somebody who has kept a continuous membership going for the past five years, I already cancelled my subscription the other day. My sub is set to expire in a few days from now and I won't be coming back unless Jagex fully reverse course on this decision.

Lots of people use third-party clients like RuneLite because the plethora of features they add go above-and-beyond the core OSRS client. Such clients are incredibly popular - threatening their very existence would lead to widespread player backlash.

With Jagex slowly starting to add some of the features that RL has, fears have arisen that they could be preparing to throw third-party developers under the bus soon.

And after Tuesday's announcement... I don't think the playerbase's fears are without merit anymore.

If it really bothered the senior management so much, Jagex could have averted this disaster had they made their policy on graphical alterations clear from the outset rather than wait until 117Scape's HD plugin had gone through two years of development and sprung this upon him at the last second because "We're currently investigating the possibility of a future graphical enhancement update."

The RuneLite HD plugin wasn't even the first graphical enhancement client to release. Several others are already available to the public, so why didn't Jagex shoot those down?

Jagex's statement update and promise to work together with 117Scape and the RuneLite developers doesn't placate me. There should be no temporary compromise until the release of an official OSRS HD overhaul.
