Ladies, gents, and those of indeterminate form, we have waited long and hard for this moment, the apotheosis of everything we as a community have worked toward solving in this game's intricate web of lore, the answer to the core mystery of Gielinor! No, it is not whether the Penguins will outlive us and reign for all time, that much is obvious. I am of course referring to the conundrum we've spent all our lives slaughtering each other over: The nature of Scale Theory.

For those sad, ignorant people who are too uneducated to have ever heard of the concept, Scale Theory is the unsolved hypothetical explanation as to how we, the player, are able to travel across the game's world in mere minutes. In one moment you can be getting devoured by giant spiders in the harsh swamps of Morytania, but in the next you can be slaying the gnomes of Kandarin and sipping fine Blurberry Specials atop their corpse-riddled Grand Tree.

Nevermind the disregard for the laws of ecology with such strict divides in biomes, logically it is impossible that the nations of this land could be so small, so to even comprehend such incomprehensibleness, the players hypothesized that the game's world is actually a truncated version of reality, that we are not privy to the actual size and detail of the mainland. However, for decades we were unable to figure out the actual scale of this conversion ourselves, UNTIL NOW!

Proof!

I have been researching encyclopedic texts most of my life and only through the smallest of clues, the slightest of hints and the patience of a thousand men did I get the slightest inkling of its solution. Whoever invented the formula for Scale Theory meant for it to never be solved. The answer lies in a page on the Runescape Wiki nobody would ever thought to have looked to, the page for the music track known played on Whale's Maw as Forgotten Continent, seen here https://runescape.wiki/w/Forgotten_Continent.

Now if you're not a goblin it should be pretty obvious what I'm explaining...

The name of this track CONFIRMS that Whale's Maw is actually the size of an entire continent, and from here we have the ball of snow that will snowball into an even bigger snowball that is our answer. You see, the average size of a real life continent is about 8,196,190 square miles. Whale's Maw is, lets say, 80 tiles in length and 30 tiles in width, giving it an approximate surface area of 2400 square tiles. Dividing 8,196,190 by 2400, we see that the size of a game tile is actually 3415 square miles, giving a width of approximately 58.3 miles.

Now according to the wiki, the dimensions of Gielinor's surface are 2240 x 1600 tiles. Multiplying this by 3415 square miles, we get 12,239,360,000 square miles as the surface area for all of Gielinor. For reference, the earth's surface area is approximately 196.9 million miles squared. This means Gielinor is more than SIXTY TIMES the size of Earth, making it even bigger than Jupiter, and almost as big as your mother.

Proof! Again!

For reference, the earth's surface area is approximately 196.9 million miles squared. This means Gielinor is more than SIXTY TIMES the size of Earth, making it even bigger than Jupiter, and almost as big as your mother. Furthermore, If you can walk 58.3 miles each step, then you can travel the 300 mile width of Britain in almost 5 steps. Since we can run 5 game tiles in about 2 seconds, that gives us an approximate runspeed of about 234,562 meters per second, which is nearly 1/1000th of the speed of light.

Now this may not seem like a lot, but according to the theory of relativity, courtesy of Albert Einstein, the inventor of space, it would take infinite energy for a human to move at the speed of light. So, applying simple math, this means that it takes infinity divided by 1000 energy to travel at that speed. Now, what does that equal? Well because infinity is like, really big, then dividing it by such a small number would practically still leave it as infinity!

Furthermore furthermore, since the player is capable from switching from standing to a constant run speed instantaneously with no acceleration to that speed, this means they have an acceleration of 234,562 meters per second divided by 0 seconds, which is undefined. Since Force = Mass x Acceleration, this means the player is capable of producing so much force that it is beyond even the concept of infinity, which I should repeat is really really really big, thereby meaning that they defy all known laws of reality and surpass even Omnidimensionality, making them objectively one of the strongest characters in all of fiction, perhaps even stronger than fiction itself! All we need to is just run into something and we'll produce obnoxiously more than enough energy to completely vaporize all the particles that construct that thing's entire being, and perhaps all of existence and non-existence as a side-effect.

This might be the smartest post I have ever seen you make or the stupidest post I have ever seen you post. I am not sure which.

So, professor-doctor spongy, what do you think of our ability to Surge, instantly moving 10 tiles at a time with absolutely zero acceleration required? Are we risking opening a hole in the entirety of space-time? IS THIS WHAT EREBUS TRULY IS?! "All great changes are preceded by chaos."

Perhaps you might be interested in knowing that, according to Betrayal at Falador, the monastery is about a day's ride (on horseback) away from Edgeville. The distance betwixt the northern gate of Falador and Taverley is similar. Bizarre Boron Fusswell, scryer extraordinaire. OSRS: POH ideas & RS3 minigames & achievement ideas!

Perhaps you're half right; perhaps we can't win. But we can fight.

Please ignore the rambling of the Spongey, his credentials are laughable and this research wouldn't even meet the minimum standards necessary for publication in Vixra. First of all, Einstein did not invent space. This is a commonly held false belief and it is highly irresponsible for Spongey to propagate this false information. Second of all, Spongey claims that the size of a single tile is 3415 square miles when it is in fact 3415 + (190/2400) square miles, an embarrassing math error which casts doubt on the accuracy of the rest of their calculations. Thirdly, there is only one reference cited in this study which is not even properly cited. And finally, as has already been proven by Eren et al (1969), [1] the size of Geilinor asymptotically reaches the size of Spongey's mother every time a higher number is proposed for its size, in contrary to Spongey's implication in his work.

All these points definitively prove that Spongey's theory is false and is based on fundamental misunderstanding and malpractice, and any certificates awarded to Spongey in the fields of Physics, Metaphysics, Philosophy and Reading and Writing Comprehension should immediately be revoked.

I suck at math so I can't really comment on your theory on the exact nature of Scale Theory but as for the second point...

It could genuinely be that the World Guardian eventually achieves some form of transcendence (not godhood) and is able to break free from the restraints of time and space. This, of course, would have to have occurred sometime after the events of the final quest in RuneScape, as anything else would utterly wreck the fairness and challenge of the game. Think CHIM in The Elder Scrolls: the ability to manipulate the fabric of the dimensions to your liking.

If that's true, it's entirely possible that the World Guardian went back and intentionally placed gradual limits on their power, to ensure that they had time to grow as a person and to have natural adaptation into their eventual power, protecting themselves and all of Gielinor in the meantime (thus bringing an even deeper meaning to the term, "World Guardian" ). This would create a cyclical time loop.

Guthix began the cycle, the World Guardian ended it and the cycle repeats because of that. Gotta love time theories like that.
