Hey fam!

Hunting Guild concepts seem cool from the outset:

- Rumours are a fresh addition, offering a needed slower paced training method
- New effects for Hunter outfits are cool, hopefully trading furs can be further incentivized
- 46 Entry Requirement feels appropriate for the skill, glad it was raised from the initial suggestion of 40
- New Hunter Weapons are interesting mid-game niches; I imagine they will be popular among ironmen accounts. The Bolas in particular offer a long-awaited connection between Ranged and Strength skills
- Hunter Meat I'm particularly excited for; the key is that all tiers share the same mechanic of delayed health gain, building it into both the early and late game. It's clear that developing Sailing has helped the Team see other skills in a more complete way.

My One Big Gripe are the Quetzal birds. A hunter-based transportation system using the concept of bird flight in which players unlock each location is not new content.
~~It's an extension of the Eagle Transit System.~~
I'd love to see the quetzal art and new lore integrated with the old Eagle content, because I agree, the addition of Guild content would require an overhaul of Hunter Location Transportation Options.

This all looks fantastic.
Only feedback I the camo effects. Should it not just act like camoflage, and actually increase catch chance when used in their respective area?

Yeah.

On the topic of The Path of Glouphrie, yay, a good quest, huzzah! However, there is one massive problem: the new magic staff is MUCH, MUCH too weak! It outperforms Iban's staff starting at level 81?! Sorry but that is moronic. Iban's staff is a level 50 weapon+spell that is quite overpowered for its level. The first real upgrade worth using is the trident of the seas at level 75. By 81, you will already have bought one!

The new warped sceptre was supposed (in fact, promised) to be a good medium-levelled weapon between Iban and the trident. Therefore, it should EASILY be able to outperform Iban starting around level 60-62. Then, it's really worth using. Now, it might as well not even exist. You just use Iban until you get your trident and ignore the new sceptre altogether. I'm very disappointed by the implementation of the sceptre; it needs a massive buff.

As for the Mining whining (heehee): the nerf is understandable, but I can hardly fault players for ‘abusing’ the now-nerfed method. What do you expect in a game where the best Mining training is a level 15 (!!) ore all the way to 99? And that's made much worse considering that the Motherlode, Volcanic and Blast Mines have all been introduced since and they are all outclassed by mining and dropping iron. Honestly, tripling Motherlode Mine experience rates across the board would be as good a fix as any until the skill is overhauled properly so that the best xp is obtained by mining an ore relevant to one's current level. Nobody should even be thinking about iron ore past level 25 or so ...

The proposed change to Shooting Stars is plainly awful. Those things are already mind-numbingly boring and slow to mine. At the very least having more players should make them deplete more quickly so you can get on with your life. I'd increase the depletion rate by a factor 5 further ... But, as I said, the entire skill needs a thorough rework akin to what RS3 has done with Woodcutting recently: review the success and xp rates for all ores to be relevant to their level, as well as the performance of pickaxes.

Finally, the lava dragon diary achievement change is pointless. Yes, the main challenge is to slay the dragon, but burying its bones should be part of the task: after all, the task showcases that these dragons drop unique bones that moreover give increased xp when buried at that location. As far as diary tasks go, this one was superb at showcasing what you can do in an area, much moreso than "smith an adamant spear from scratch in [some place where it's possible but otherwise irrelevant]."

All in all, despite the addition of a great quest, somehow this update feels like a failure: the promised reward has been rendered pointless because it's too weak and a number of smaller but equally stupid changes hardly help. :| Sorry ...

Booooo!

Adding an arbitrary fee to use salamanders, turning bolas into a spear with no special attack, and making it difficult to obtain multiple sets of the mixed hide gear really diminishes the excitement for those rewards. As someone who does both Pking and PvM in the wilderness, the arguments in the blog against them is pretty bogus, and sounds like a bunch of fear mongering without a real opportunity to test the items. I’m not sure why two days of feedback warrants such a dramatic change—seems like a knee-jerk reaction.

We should at the very least test the proposed items in a beta world before changing or scrapping them entirely. My initial impression was that the concepts were generally well received by the community. Some of the most exciting rewards from the proposal were the rewards that had implications on PvM and PvP.

I feel these changes were made too swiftly without the proper chance to be tested by the community. At least allow us the opportunity to test and give feedback.

I'd like to see the hunter meats explored with some further cooking methods additional to the basic fire or common range. We have stews and spits that are sadly underused for their potential here, and have potential to make meats more instantly effective in terms of healing and secondary effects. Maybe give stewed meat a 0/100 ratio and it all be healing over time with 150% efficacy, and maybe meat cooked with a bbq spit could have 120% efficacy but take longer to eat, or have 80% efficacy and take shorter to eat. There are some fun ideas to play around with.

Can we also take a look at updating the Hunter Cape's perks? Maybe some integration with the proposed Guild? Or at least give it weight-reduction like the Spottier Cape.

5 Daily Teleports to the Chinchompa areas isn't very useful since there already exist many other comparable transportation methods.

Secondly, we’ve seen concerns from the PvP community that this will serve as easy access for some of the Wilderness’ least appreciated combat methods. To rectify this, we’re exploring an upfront cost to using these creatures in PvP.

We also noted that many of you were unhappy that the Bolas didn’t have a use in Hunter. We agree that it would be better to tie them in with the skill, so we’ll be taking a step back to rethink the design.

In the meantime, we’re transforming the Hunter’s Bolas into the Hunter’s Spear, which will have all the same stats but won’t include the controversial special attack.

Seriously? A minority bunch of PvP tw*ts, whose sole purpose is to grief other players, have declared the special attack to be "controversial" (read: oh no, ranged can now do what ice spells can do in weaker form) and it's been scrapped? Brilliant; the bolas have gone from an interesting if niche ranged weapon to a useless gimmick. The salamander could've been a fun weapon of choice (I suppose it still would be at e.g. the Barrows) but ... would the upkeep cost also apply to safe PvP? If not, I suppose it could still work in Soul Wars or something.

Please stop catering to pk'ers and pures that only care about themselves ...
