53rd!

Anyway, I've decided to aim for Master Quest Cape, because... well I need my dose of questing, and the last few years have left me with withdrawal symptoms. I am slightly concerned with some of the tasks... like getting all lore drops from angel of death... and having to listen to Mod Mark recite poetry, but at least it gives me a task to aim for. I don't know if there's a Master Questers list, but hopefully I'll try to get on it.

Yeah, the MQC is quite a tough accomplishment. I think that I'll probably end up getting the Comp cape before the MQC. The MQC bit more PvM focused with some of the book drops you need.

Its a good goal to have though and looks amazing. What tasks are you working on at the moment?

I'm currently working on getting all the skills to complete everything in the East. I'm 5 hunter levels away from my last port adventurer and 1 woodcutting level from actually starting the miniquests. PVM wise the only real difficulty is defeating Nex: Angel of Death once. KBD and QBD can't be that difficult, when compared with the Sliskes Endgame bossfights. Another PVM issue is probably getting the super rare drops from Crystal Shapeshifters, as well as all the journals from Ripper Demons but I have had tasks for them before, so I'm quietly confident.

After I finish the East stuff, I'll probably go for 119 dungeoneering.

Also during the stream, the Jmods mention their surprise that Underground Pass 2 scored so low. Mod Mark also expressed his surprise in a top 10 quests video 2 years ago that Underground Pass didn't make the top 10. I have no idea where this surprise comes from; it was fall of trapdoors that sent you to the start of the dungeon, an area full of jumps with a high chance of failure if you had low agility (like me) and a boss you destroy by walking to a well avoiding spells that teleport you away. But you do get to crush an unicorn with a giant boulder. W42 - Asgarnian Admin, 6 year Loyal Kinshra and Pie Connoisseur.

Those of you who saw the backlog poll results may have noticed that the most voted for medium update is for a quest that would require 99 hunter.

Jagex aren't playing around now, you thought you were comfortable with your skills in the mid 80's, forget it. You've had it too easy for too long, you thought you didn't need to grind past 90, think again. Of course if you've already got a Max Cape then this isn't a big deal. Unlike me who has 89 hunter.

Also, the Achievements tab lies!!! It doesn't say you need 90 hunter to start Jed Hunter, I've had to spend hours catching Draconic Jadinkos!!!

So the Summer Updates are:

Elite Dungeons
Player Owned Farms
Solak
Skillcape Perks
More Work on RS Mobile

So yeah, this is the stuff they want to advertise ahead of time to get people to buy membership when the price increases. They obviously aren't interested in attracting questers. Shame.

I am excited by the first 2 though, especially since I need to train to 119 dung for MQC.

Well the game jam stream the other day showed off many things, such as Mod Shoguns poor taste in pizza (Banana, Curry Leaf, Chicken, Nuts for toppings), cosplay conga lines and Temple of Aminishi elite dungeon.

But they did mention they've made scripts for 3 quests that may have development starting on them.

Hunter Skillcape Quest

Yeah, I wasn't really the biggest fan of this quest, I found the story confusing and illogical at times, and the way you start the quest is ridiculously obscure, I would've preferred it if it was started in a similar way to Regicide, with some guy appearing in front of you and handing you the scroll or something.

In other news I beat one of the more difficult requirements for the MQC, filling the Codex with 110 souls, it's incredibly long and frustrating and I'm glad I don't have to around killing creatures that haven't had an update in 13 years.

Months... many months.

Also the build the backlog poll comes out later this month, and there's several quests on the list. I don't know what exactly, but if we get more quests than last year I'll be happy

I managed to beat Dragon Slayer on classic, and would've completed more quests if herblaw requirements didn't get in the way. However I've been told there were more and more bugs appearing, and they had no easy way to fix these, it's sad but I'm surprised it lasted this long.

Funorb hadn't been shown love for years, as far as I remember Arcanists and Armies of Gielinor were great, but the forums were full of malware.

Supposedly, Jagex are hoping to get a big boost from RS Mobile, that or their putting resources into that list of side projects they showed on twitter a while ago, something called Runescape RPG or something like that was on there. But as long as we keep getting quests, I'm happy.

So I tried Story Mode with 2 other similarly levelled people. And it's alright except for the last boss fight. I managed to Solo the 2nd boss with my crappy Wyvern Crossbow and Sup Death Lotus, but unfortunately Jagex have decided against making the hp 1/3 of what it normally is and instead making it half.

Seiryu has a mechanic where one person stays on the ground killing retextured Cave Slimes while the other 2 have to jump onto the chains and destroy the chains holding Seiryu. Unfortunately these chains have 100khp and there is a time limit and I could only get it down to 10khp before being booted off, whereby Seiryu heals back to full health. Despite the addition of story mode being added so people could learn the lore, the lorebooks can only be unlocked as drops in Normal mode. The ramp in difficulty between Seiryu and the 2nd boss is absurd, and the fact you get no rewards for Story mode other than about 25k tokens when the final boss has 9 times the hp of Sliske is ridiculous.

Duo mode is apparently bugged and doesn't keep track of checkpoints, in Mod Lee's livestream of solo storymode he failed to take off more than 200khp, I have no idea what they were thinking.

Me and my friend had another go at Seiryu and tried to duo him, this time we were successful however I don't see how this is possible solo on normal mode. After all this it does piss me off that the only reward for defeating Seiryu in story mode is 5k tokens, when I've spent about 2.5m getting my items back from death. You don't even get an achievement, speaking of which there's one for making Seiryu sneeze, so bring some feathers. W42 - Asgarnian Admin, 6 year Loyal Kinshra and Pie Connoisseur.

Upon review, the bossfights are all pretty good, you don't need to use 4taa or surging or anything ridiculous, the main issue is this wasn't tested properly or fine tuned enough. The scales having such a low limit on ge, duo mode not saving checkpoints, the missing journal page and the hp not scaling to group size are all massive issues that should've been spotted. Vorago Origins, Desert Treasure 2 and the Hunter Skillcape Quest are the only quests we know are currently in development. If they treat Elite Dungeons as a quest for a month, then we probably won't get one for July as the 2nd Elite Dungeon is coming out then. But hopefully August :D W42 - Asgarnian Admin, 6 year Loyal Kinshra and Pie Connoisseur.

Well BTS is out: We get ANOTHER Elite Dungeon, so since this'll be the 2nd hopefully there won't be as many issues.

Summoning Points are also increasing tenfold, to put it in line with Prayer Points

Plus Beach Event and the God Awful Runepass trial.

So this is looking to be a pretty crappy month.

I'm too stubborn to quit before getting Master Quest Cape, the quality of the updates until then will determine whether I stay or not, the only real thing keeping me here is friends who still play the game.

Runepass frustrates me immensely, especially as the increased MXT doesn't seem to equal better updates. I'd love to see Jagex release where the increased revenue is spent, to see what content is getting prioritised. I've been optimistic that the lack of quests is down to RS Mobile, Mining & Smithing Rework and Bank rework, so that when these are done the quests will come flowing, but I lose faith as each month passes.

With Drakan you just have to make the most of your defensive abilities since you have a standard set of gear, be sure to avoid his difficult attacks.

Nomad is a huge pain in the ass, but you have the reqs for Gano which is what I used when I beat him, defence abilities are key, as are using potions. You also have to make sure you run away from the bridge everytime he teleports you. When he clones himself is the difficult part, luck plays a good part.

Graador is all about dodging his attacks

I never really had an issue with Pharaoh, beating him on my first try with little food or any decent technique so I can't help there.

Grimmson + Hreidmar is the first boss I truly struggled against, there is a door you can open to hide behind, letting you take care of Grimmson whilst not letting Hreidmar attack you, Grimmson's spec has been known to glitch so be careful.

So that is everyone's thoughts on Player Owned Farms?

I personally like it, but I'm waiting for the prices of dragon eggs to settle down a bit so I can start making some real beans. :P

I'm a big fan of the concept but not of the execution. I know a lot of people complained that they didn't want a dailyscape farming activity but instead we get animals pooping every 10 minutes making themselves unhappy, plus this update kills bankspace. I was okay with it in the beginning but I spent the start of the update hunting Crimson skillchompa's for hours, and didn't get an animal (but got 2 hunter levels). Honestly I was hoping for something like Ports, something more casual.

Wow, no posts in almost a month.

Anyway 2 new quests were revealed at Runefest:

Needle Skips: A Murder Mystery style quest based around the game Her Story, which will involve typing key words into a search bar to view certain events, as well as teleporting between 3 time periods.

Violet is Blue: A sequel to Myths of the White Lands and the Christmas Holiday Quest, which will become permanent after Christmas ends. It involves helping 2 yeti's make their adopted human daughter have the best day out to Yeti Town ever, and will involve lots of puzzle solving.

Last year when only 2 quests were announced, I was p***ed off. Now I'm going "That's great, we're actually getting more quests this year!" which is terrible. Provided there's no delay's that will make 4 quests this year, the lowest amount ever. Here's hoping with M&S Rework, Elite Dungeons and Mobile out of the way (hopefully) 2019 will feature a fair few more quests.

I wasn't a big fan of the quest, though I did manage to unlock all memories without a walkthrough. However unlocking all words required a walkthrough. I mean it is nice to have a quest after waiting 7 MONTHS (which I think is a new record).

I do object to some of the words such as having lie, lies AND liars. Also Evil, Necessary AND Necessary Evil. And Lizardman, they're called Illujan*a or Dragon Riders, I don't understand how you could get that.

Oh damn, thought this forum had been deleted, good to know it survived.

The Elite Dungeoneering Quest was a nice surprise and was probably the best quest of this year, though it's a shame there's no quests this month.

In other news I finally got every journal page from Daemonheim, my main requirement I'd been working on for MQC since May last year. I'm pretty sure it was the toughest of the requirement but I have about 20 requirements still to go, mostly relating to RNG related lore drops (Barb notes, God Wars Journals, Last Rider, Wedding ring). My current goal is to get 99 RC (Currently 96) and my overall goal is to get the MQC before the comp cape rework is added into the game, replacing it with the 'lore cape'.
