“I don’t know why we need ‘em with her around” the visibly distressed guard whose chest was shot at less than thirty seconds ago remarks.

“Not another word from you!” Atheana demands. “Not another cursed word!”

The group walks single file, and before long a carriage is visible at one of the abandoned factory’s loading garages. Atheana takes the first shot, naturally, sending a runite arrow into the neck of the lone horse in charge of moving the vehicle.

“Oi! The horse did*’t do anything!” One of the guardsmen shouts, shooting his own arrow which ricochets of the interior of the garage after barely missing a Black arm’s member.

“SHUT UP!” Atheana yells, now sprinting alongside the rest of the group. “NOT* ANOTHER… WORD… TO… ME!”

With every word of her demand she shoots another deadly arrow, and by the time the guards have reached the open garage, a fair amount of bodies already litter the scene. Swords are drawn and bows are reshouldered as the group enters the warehouse.

The fight breaks off into many smaller ones. Dante Makes a sweeping cut with his sword, cutting down two gangsters with short crossbows trained on him. He spins around and deflects a steel war hammer crashing down on him, and digs his blade into the stomach of its weilder. To his right he sees Hines throwing a brick he dislodged from the wall towards the head of another gangster wielding a tire iron. Dante laughs and Hines catches his eye while he runs, returning to the melee.

“I felt bad killing the only guy without a real weapon,” he says, unsheathing his sword and cutting down a scimitar wielding mobster. Dante smiles before turning expectantly to his left, from where most of the remaining combatants had entered the fight… The doorway remained empty. Looking around, most of the guards were uninjured. Atheana draws her bowstring back a final, releasing into the chest of a mortally wounded gangster.

“Lord Saradomin,” Dante hears a guard’s familiar voice say. “I’ve been stabbed. My whole week’s pay is going to the doctor and the Jeweler!”

“SHUT UP!” Atheana yells, driving another arrow into the opposite side of his amulet as it sits exposed, dangling away from his chest while he sits slouched on a barrel, holding his wound.

“Yes ma’am!” The guard says, flinching and rolling onto the ground. “I won’t talk about the bloody amulet anymore!”

He merely whimpers as the precious stone falls to the ground with a thump, knocked lose by Atheana’s accurate missiles…

The trio stands in front of the desk, watching the captain of the city guard read over their files, smoking his pipe.

“Atheana, you have several warrants out to do with your antisocial, violent behavior… mhmm… Hines, you have several disorderly conduct charges pending on your record… Mhmm… Dante, you’ve been mistaken as an apparition several times on account of your color and height, but it doesn’t seem you’ve ever broken any real laws…”

Smoke whirls around the room, and hangs around the bearded face of the old man as he speaks, his eyes on his files. The room, lit by a single candle, seems more like a personal office than a chamber in the Varrock palace, but the furniture is all extremely sturdy, and the floors and surfaces remain clean despite the Oder and presence of tobacco smoke. Atheana coughs, tears coming into her eyes due to the stale, stagnant air in the office.

“We know!” she finally barks. *What about it! You did*’t mind all of that when we were plotting to rearm Varrock’s soldiers on the front line!”

He looks up at her as if disenchanted from a spell which prevented him from doing anything but reading files and muttering to himself about the three’s criminal records.

“Well of course!” he exclaims. “I just meant to tell you that all of the charges are officially dismissed!*

She exhales deeply, pleased somewhere below her hard outer shell that the man was finally speaking TO them.

“Varrock recognizes greatness when she sees it!” The man exclaims. “You certainly have proven yourselves to be great.”

“Yeah,” Hines says, slouching in his chair. “Like the time we killed those ‘ghost goblins’ terrorizing the slums wasn’t great?”

“Or the time I forcibly integrated the public pools, what about that?” Dante asks. “No? It’s not on my record either?”

The man laughs like he’s in the company of his closest chums.

“Anything I need done in the city, you’ll be the first three I consider should you show interest, I promise!” he exclaims, still laughing.

“Now, there’s a matter of payment,” Hines says, leaning forward in his chair. “I believe you owe us a permit to leave the city should we so choose.”

The official looks into Hines’ eyes.

*I think I can do you a lot better than that, old chap.” He says with a mischievous grin on his face.
