Whn you use abilities, no ammo is actually used, so you could kill thousands of dragons using only one arrow and still keep it afterwards. Training Ranged is practically free. Creator of the quarterly M.U.P.A.Q. and I.B.A.T.A.W.A.T. Awards™ and writer of the

not everyone uses abilities

I still don't understand why people don't use them. Better damage than Legacy, fancy and different attack animations and no actual need for ammo.

i think it's because they prefer the old style of combat

Some people just don't like change, even thought the "new" system is more efficient and even necessary for some content.

another point for this idea is it can be used for new players as very cheap way to use ranged and train it with foes on water or from safespots, if you lose some wood clubs it's not as bad as with arrows

Another cheap way to train Ranged is using the chargebow. And bronze arrows are really really cheap, and easy to make too.

yes but not everyone wants to use bows, they might want to try throwing weapons instead

Like it even makes a difference, certainly at low levels.

Admittedly, I am trying to give the idea fair consideration.
But we already have quite a few throwing weapons in game. That's before you get into short/shield bows, crossbows, dwarven hand cannon, salamanders, etc.

I don't think cluttering up range with yet another 1-50 range weapon is going to do us much good.

I get the idea but it's also again more meant for new players, hunters or players on a dime, also none of those weapons are crushing or bludgeoning, all of them are slashing or piercing based

It doesn't matter in terms of game mechanic - thrown is thrown. In terms of weapon diversity (those special effects for distinct weapon types) it would make more sense to extend bows and especially crossbows instead of adding yet another throwing weapon.

well i am aware thrown is thrown, just meant more as a point that there's no blunt thrown weapons

well again it's meant more for new player choices and weapon uses, also it gives all those logs that you sell or burn ot fletch a new use and saves having to burn them or drop them if training wc

If you want to get rid of logs with Fletching fletch the logs into stackable arrow shafts then.

I believe a cannon and brutal arrows are blunt, and if you get hit by the handle end of a knife or throwing axe it could break some bones too.
And slash, stab and crush are types exclusively found in Melee. Would be stupid to assign fire or earth styles from Magic to swords, or thrown, arrow and bolt to Magic spells, right?

Seriosuly, ducks? They're probably the worst to train on! I haven't seen anyone attack a duck in years. Plus, they don't drop anything. And there are no other foes on water. Creator of the quarterly M.U.P.A.Q. and I.B.A.T.A.W.A.T. Awards™ and writer of the
