https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throwing_stick

Irl one of the earliest weapons humanity had was the throwing club or throwing stick, basically it was a piece of wood that hunters would throw at small animals, it was a simple yet effective weapon

I would like to propose that throwing clubs be added to runescape for both f2p and p2p

Basically my idea is this, you use a knife on logs and from each log you can craft 5 throwing clubs, they are stackable and are a thrown weapon.

The advantages of this weapon would be as follows

1. they would be very easy and cheap to make for players, you just use a knife on logs and thats it, no feathers or smithing required
2.additionally it provides an alternative for woodcutters who dont want to drop every log in their inventory or bank or trade them or burn them or make them into arrow shafts, they can instead just craft some clubs and gain cheap weapons and some xp,
3. great for giveaways for new players
4. Ideal for cheap ranged training and for people who dont want to use the chargebow
5. They could be added as a cool new hunter item and tool for current or new hunting targets

The disadvantage of the throwing clubs are as follows
They are quite weak since they are just wood you throw, they are even weaker then darts or knives, maybe they are half as strong as darts or knives or even a third as strong
They have a range of 6 and a speed of Average (3.6s) so not too far of a range and sorta slow
They are weak even at high high levels so using them on nex is not ideal, they would be best for training ranged for low levels or medium levels and for players with low cash

To make them it could be part of the fletching skill or crafting skill, they would give ok xp but again is meant for alternatives for woodcutters

The throwing clubs would follow the usual tier system for wood and maybe use the crossbow stock as a base for what level you need to wield them

thoughts, suggestions?

another point for this idea is it can be used for new players as very cheap way to use ranged and train it with foes on water or from safespots, if you lose some wood clubs it's not as bad as with arrows

Another cheap way to train Ranged is using the chargebow. And bronze arrows are really really cheap, and easy to make too.

yes but not everyone wants to use bows, they might want to try throwing weapons instead

Admittedly, I am trying to give the idea fair consideration.
But we already have quite a few throwing weapons in game. That's before you get into short/shield bows, crossbows, dwarven hand cannon, salamanders, etc.

I don't think cluttering up range with yet another 1-50 range weapon is going to do us much good.

I get the idea but it's also again more meant for new players, hunters or players on a dime, also none of those weapons are crushing or bludgeoning, all of them are slashing or piercing based

It doesn't matter in terms of game mechanic - thrown is thrown. In terms of weapon diversity (those special effects for distinct weapon types) it would make more sense to extend bows and especially crossbows instead of adding yet another throwing weapon.

well i am aware thrown is thrown, just meant more as a point that there's no blunt thrown weapons

well again it's meant more for new player choices and weapon uses, also it gives all those logs that you sell or burn ot fletch a new use and saves having to burn them or drop them if training wc

well the idea is to have a throwing weapon that is even simpler then knives to or axes or make, you just need wood, no trips tp smelter or coal needed or feathers, also you don't have to make the logs into arrows shafts if you don't want to

also i know about brutal arrows and cannon but they aren't thrown weapons

it's not complex but the wood log methods would be much faster and simpler since you can just use knife on your toolbelt, anyway the idea is to give more thrown options, especially for new players who could with a knife just make logs on the spot, also if they wish to train range on ducks or water foes this isn't as big of a loss
