In the case of more people using low-level armour and weps, most of the things that we level'd up with aren't useful anymore and won't be used. Things like brackish blades and chaotics and what not will probably be used more than whips etc.

Not to mention people are just gonna use spins to get to 80/90 to use the higher level stuff.

So many flaws :l...

How is someone using lamps/pendants any different than people in the past who used horns and saws and whatnot, or marble altars and pack yacks to blast past those who buried individual bones for their 99s?

How is it any different from those, like say, myself, who actually train herblore and smithing and construction, instead of warbanding it up?

It isn't. Stop caring so much about what other people do and enjoy what YOU do.

Unless resources, or everything really, were made 100% untradeable, someone who gets a lucky drop is going to own you anyway. That was true in the days before the GE, it was even more true once it came out, and it will always be true.

@Nexus discussion-

This, again, is another excellent example of why so many who are against prestige infuriate me. Rather than bothering to give reworking of minigames and whatnot an iota of consideration as a wholly SEPARATE nuance, they'd rather shoot Prestige down because "People will ignore it.". Because "Other stuff is already better anyway.". Because "That's dead content." or "You can only do that with friends and stuff.".

Give a damn about the game and the amount of options grow exponentially instead of just being either Prestige OR new content OR making current content better. it can be all three, folks.

I'm also becoming increasingly annoyed at those calling the ones that vote "no" stupid, or ignorant.

I read the blog as soon as they posted it, I've given it thought over the past few days. At first I wanted it SO badly to be implemented. But then I sat down and thought of all the positives and negatives. I voted no because the negatives - for me and my friends - outweighed the positive. I've posted why I voted no, I also supported posts that furthered my opinion.

For you to call me stupid for taking an educated vote - that's rude.

And where does all of the negative stem from exactly? Think about that for a moment and if it clicks you'll realize that calling no voters ignorant is very justified.

Then by that same token, the "Yes" voters are ignorant. Maybe the "Yes" voters should reread the Dev - Blog and Q & A...maybe there is something you missed or are not clearly understanding. As you can see there is no reason for name calling. We are all entitled to our opinions and are justified in our beliefs for our own personal votes.

Perhaps, care to enlighten me on the major consequences this update will bring? No not the petty stuff like how prestige will get cosmetic rewards and the lifetime high scores won't (which for the record I disagree with), but rather the real reasons as to why everyone and their friends have all taken up their pitchforks over this update?

Lord . When an item isn't worth making, they go towards the alch value. If there is a demand, they will go towards surpassing their resource value.

All I have seen for years is the resources overcoming the products.

Thank you for your sarcasm. It's a sign of trying to get an advantage over something you simply don't understand. I hope this helps.

I understand things. When I first started, I made strength amulets and sold them to a shop in brimhaven. Not sure if you ever visited this shop, but it paid quite a bit of gp at the time. It actually paid more then the alchy price in fact.

Some items are useless though because of updates. Why have a amulet of glory when load stones take you anywhere the amulet of glory would take you? I used to use the ring of wealth when they added a ge tele to it, but then the edgeville load stone came out, and it is easier to home tele to edgeville and run to the ge.

I hardly even use runes for teleporting any more even. People won't train making tons of useless rings and necklaces, at least the experienced players, but they will make the gems into useful items.

They will also teach new players what to make and what not to make. Game necklace, mostly useless, don't make many of them. Instead make sapphire bracelets that give you soft clay when you mine clay. Amulet of strength, don't bother. Make rings of forging that make sure you don't waste iron ore when smelting iron bars. Make ruby bolt tips.

Prestiging won't create more of items but less of items because experience players will play along side new players and pass on experience learned from playing the game.

Rex Caeli,

The problem is that this update won't flock the low level areas as they intend. It will have different effects. Experienced players WILL find their quickest way and still evade newcomers who don't use a wiki or know anything.

And I'd love to see dead content be revived. Scale more things like the nexus to prayer levels rather than it being low level content BUT that will cause yet another runespan fiasco...

Your example was a good one, because it states directly how this update will go forward.

What runescape did with agility by merging lvl 1 with lvl 85 content is an ideal way to go to get everyone together in the game. Prestige won't do this, but there is definitely more room to create this, and make the prestige option an actual option.

You complained about future updates diminishing past accomplishments, which is not a negative but a side effect of playing a game that updates and updates often.

Somebody points out somebody using a guilded alter and pack yak training prayer and passing somebody that in the past trained prayer by burying bones, which was a slower exp rate and quite an accomplishment at the time to get 99 prayer without an alter or a pack yak.

I have voted "no" as I do not feel the need into prestiging skills, personally, I think it takes a lot of time and effort to get a 99 in any skill, also, I do not feel the need that you have to add a new feature into the game that enables you to prestige a stat, I understand and I am very happy that you have given us the chance to vote if we want it or not purely because the game is the players as well, and I think we should have a say in everything that goes into runescape, as a community I personally think we could all come up with better idea's on how to make the game more fun, I'm not saying it isn't fun, I am saying we can make it funner, as a community we can discuss and come up with new idea's to help improve the game, because if the Mods come up with all of the idea's I do not think it is fair, but allowing us to vote is a very brave thing to do, I appreciate all the time and effort you have put into thinking of a grand idea, I know other people think differently to what I am saying here but this is just me saying what I think personally, anyway, thanks for reading and I hope that you understand what I mean, It is a very good idea and I love the fact that you can go back to the 99 skill you have chosen to prestige.
Thanks
-Zaydey

I really agree with what this player has to say and i believe much of the rs community feels the same way.

I WISH that would be true. Your statements are in theory perfect and expect everyone to play nicely and social.

What will happen :
Players will buy all gems from GE, make TONS of str ammies because they give the most exp for their levels, COMPLETELY disregarding other options (or perhaps bracelets are the fastest exp rate? a well)
It will be a rush and people won't be reinventing a brimhaven shop. And dont expect twenty people running towards it to sell their jewelry. and even if they do, they will only lower the value the shops buy it from, since that's what shops do when they get overstocked.

I have taught hundreds of players through my ten years about runescape before runescape wiki became a decent option.
Trust me all they asked were "how do i quickest make money" and "where is the best place for me to train?"

I usually answered with "just play the game, the millions come by themselves" , or give them tips that gave them millions that no one thought of, like making money off prayer, or firemaking, rather than selling resources for the money.

Your points are unfortunately naive, but I see you want the same as I : A better place and people actually coming together and work together.

The only reason to add this to the game is so that maxed payers will have something to do. I for one is against this, this doesn't add anything to the game, if you want to prestige just create a new account and problem solved. Starting from scratch offers a way bigger challenge then just resetting your stats. Also after gaining 200m xp do you really think people will be interested in getting another 200m or 400m xp or whatever?

Wouldn't it be better to fix the dead mini-games, content that people in all levels can enjoy? After all I do believe that most people that play rs rather have something to enjoy while they are online e.g. a good mini-game, sw, fog**** etc etc could really use an update. You can only train a repetitive skill for so long until you get bored and want to do something else.

Mini-games is something that will be appreciated by people in all levels and mini-games is one of the reasons why rs was so good back in the days. I really hope you take this under consideration.

Vote N0 there are better ways to make rs fun again.
