Information on Upkeep

Our Citadel seems to have broken down – why?

Each week, your clan needs to collect enough resources to pay for the ‘upkeep’ of the Citadel. Your Stronghold, Storehouse, Battlefield, and Skill Plots each have requirements of resources that need to be gathered weekly in order to maintain them.

If your clan does not gather enough resources during a given week, the buildings that upkeep was missed for will become dilapidated and give less XP. While your Stronghold is in a dilapidated state, your Citadel will look broken down and have torn flags.

If your clan fails to meet a building's upkeep requirement for two consecutive weeks, it will downgrade by 1 Tier.

How can I see how many resources we need for upkeep?

To see how many resources each building needs for upkeep:

1. Go inside your Citadel, and click on the Citadel map.
2. Near the top centre of the window, click on the tab called ‘View Job List Interface’.
3. If prompted, enter your PIN, and you will be shown how many resources need to be collected for upkeep, upgrades, and downgrades. [the middle tab at the top shows upkeep]
4. Each of these buildings needs to be at 100% to meet upkeep.

If you are upgrading your Citadel’s Tier, you will need more people to visit the Citadel in order to make progress towards the upgrade. Meeting the upkeep requirement while failing to meet the upgrade requirement will not cause your clan to miss upkeep that week. It will just prevent your clan from being able to make progress on the upgrade.

Here is a table that shows the number of members needed for each Tier:

How many people need to visit the Citadel for weekly upkeep?

How can I check if someone has visited the Citadel or capped?

If you open your Clan Chat window, you will notice there is a golden arrow (pointing left) to the right of each name. Click this arrow and then the money icon that appears. This opens the Resource Info interface which shows what resources that clan member has collected in the Citadel since the last Build Tick.

Note that you need to be on the same world as the clan member in order to successfully check this resource count since clan data cannot be read across different worlds. You also do not need to be in a Citadel to check this.

If a clan member has not visited the Citadel, a message will pop up in your chat box stating, “This clanmate has not visited the Citadel since the last build tick.”

Can I check if someone has visited or capped without being logged in to the game?

Yes. Visiting and capping at your Citadel will send an event to your RuneMetrics log. If your RuneMetrics profile is set to 'friends' or 'public,' it is possible for someone to check for the event logged on your profile.

For clan members who have their RuneMetrics profile set to 'public,' it is possible for clan leaders to set up an automated logger that records this information to produce a list of clan members who visit and cap at the Citadel weekly. There are some loggers currently available for use. For example, this is one of the features offered by Branjo's Clan Discord Bot.

Unfortunately, if the RuneMetrics profile is set to 'friends only' or 'private', it is not possible to have a logger check for this information.

Note, the Visit and Cap event logs can be toggled ON or OFF as part of the 'Miscellaneous' category under 'Other Events' in your Gameplay Settings. Make sure the box is checked if you want this on.

Why isn't it possible to see everyone who has capped or visited the Citadel if they're offline or on another world?

This is not possible because the resource count and has/has-not-visited-the-Citadel data is stored on the player itself. Therefore, if a player is offline or not on the same world as you, there's no way to link you to their data.

Mod Maz's response in regards to a question about providing a list in game: (19 May 2017)
Mod Maz said:
Capping is stored on the player account. Player account data can not be accessed in game if the player is not on the same world as the account requesting it. It's also not updated till someone enters the citadel, so the data may well be out of date even if a list were able to be generated.

However, Visiting and Capping at your Clan Citadel will log an event on your RuneMetrics profile. It is possible to set up a Google Spreadsheet or Discord Bot to retrieve this information and compile a list for you.

How do we upgrade our Citadel and its Plots?

1. Enter your Citadel, and click on the Citadel map.
2. Near the top left of the window, click on the tab called ‘View Buildings’.
3. Select which building you would like to upgrade.
4. Click on the yellow up arrow on the far right, then click ‘Upgrade’

Note: To upgrade the Citadel’s Tier, all Skillplots and the Storehouse must be the same Tier as the Citadel. The Battlefield may be excluded as you can upgrade your Citadel’s tier while leaving the Battlefield at Tier 1.

Confirmation from Mod Matthe (21 April 2017):
Mod Matthe said:
As others have said, the tier of battlefield does not effect your Citadel tier.

How can we move our Build Tick, and what does it cost?

How to move the Tick:

1. Go to the Citadel Keep, and right-click on the Quartermaster.

2. Select the option “Move tick.”
3. The Build Tick will be moved to exactly 7 days after the time at which you requested the Build Tick change.

Note: The Build Tick automatically changes each week to the time at which the first member entered the Citadel. This is a useful way of changing the Build Tick by a short amount of time.

However, there is a 'grace period' after the Tick. If a member enters during this grace period, the time of the next Build Tick will not be changed. The duration of this grace period is unknown.

What it costs to move the Tick:

• The cost of moving the Build Tick is the same as the cost of upkeep. If you move the Tick, your clan will end up paying upkeep twice in one week.

• The resources your clan has collected in the Citadel are NOT reset after you choose to move the Tick. The clan members who have not capped yet need to collect the necessary resources.

• If your clan fails to pay the double upkeep, the Citadel will become dilapidated.

Notes:

• If you had capped before the Tick was moved, your cap will be reset, and you can cap again.

• If you had not capped before the move, you will lose a fealty star.

• Resources gathered by Avatars are not reset, so they can only cap once.

Why am I unable to enter my clan’s Citadel?

Issues preventing players from entering a Citadel can vary, so be sure to check all factors before concluding which is causing your specific issue.

Players may be unable to enter their Citadel due to:
1. Not belonging to a clan
2. Their clan having less than 5 members
3. Being Free-To-Play
4. Their Citadel being locked
5. Server outages
6. Other server issues

Not belonging to a clan
: Players must belong to a clan in order to enter their clan’s Citadel. However, it is possible to guest in another clan’s Citadel by right-clicking the portal and entering a clan’s name.

Clans with less than 5 members
: Due to the requirements of the clan code, a clan must have a minimum of 5 members in order for clan functions to work. If a clan has less than 5 members, they cannot create or maintain a Citadel.

Game Membership
: Citadels are members-only content, so players are unable to enter Citadels from free-to-play worlds.

Locked Citadels
: Citadels require a minimum weekly visitor count of 5 clan members in order to stay open. Failing to meet this visitor requirement will result in your Citadel becoming locked. Once a Citadel becomes locked, entry is not possible until it is unlocked. A Citadel is unlocked by having 5 different clan members attempt to enter it within one week, and the fifth member's entry attempt will unlock it.

Server Outages
: There are times where Instance Shard Worlds, the servers Citadels are hosted on, undergo maintenance or have disruptions. During this time, entry to Citadels is not possible, and you must wait until the servers are properly functioning again.

Other Server Issues
: There are times where a player may attempt to enter their Citadel and immediately be kicked out. This is due to a disconnect between your game world and the instance shard world. This issue can often be fixed by changing worlds and attempting to enter the Citadel from another world, though it may take a few tries. Restarting your game client may also help with this issue. If this doesn’t work, submit a Bug Report and include your clan’s name in the report.

Why am I not receiving the buff from the Avatar?

As of the Avatar Rework update released 27 July 2018, players must activate their buff by interacting with the Avatar Control Stone within their clan’s Citadel. Currently, the available buffs are: Experience Boost, Skill Plot Bonus.

Once activated, the buff will expire exactly one week after activation, and you can swap between buffs at any time if you’d like to switch to another one.

1. Go to the Avatar Habitat in your clan’s Citadel
2. Right-click on the Avatar Control Stone, and select “Attune to Avatar”
3. Select the buff you would like to activate for one week

Note: It is no longer required to have a Clan Avatar summoned in order to benefit from its buffs.

How do Clan Avatar buffs work?

Currently, the available buffs are: Experience Boost, Skill Plot Bonus
Heal Over Time, Familiar Faces, Auto Ort, Random Resurrection, and Protector were removed with the Avatar Rework (27 July 2018), but may return in the future

These buffs are activated by attuning to the Avatar Control Stone in your clan’s Citadel, and you may swap at any time by attuning yourself to the other buff.

Experience Boost

This buff allows all players who belong to a clan to attune themselves to a 3% to 6% Experience Boost, varying based on Fealty Rank, that lasts one week from activation. Prior to the Avatar Rework, this bonus was limited to where it would work due to follower restrictions placed in certain game areas. This has since changed to work anywhere now that summoning the Avatar as a follower is not required to access the buff.

The experience boost is a flat 3% XP boost for anyone who activates it. This increases by 1% per Fealty Rank, capping at 6% for rank 3 Fealty. Your Fealty rank can be increased weekly by gathering 900 resources in your clan’s Citadel.

Skill Plot Bonus

This buff allows players to attune themselves to a 50% increased gathering rate for Citadel Resources that lasts one week from activation. While this buff is active, gathering resources from any Citadel Skillplot will yield 50% more resources, effectively allowing players to gather resources at 1.5x the standard rate and cap faster.

The benefit of this buff is the reduction in the amount of time it takes to gather enough resources to maintain or increase a Fealty rank and reach the weekly resource cap. However, gathering resources faster will give slightly less xp overall than gathering resources without using this buff. There is a trade-off of faster gathering vs. gaining more experience.

How do I summon an Avatar?

Prior to the Avatar Rework (27 July 2018), only clan members ranked Admin+, who were also assigned the Avatar Warden job, were able to summon a Clan Avatar as a follower.

• Clan Avatars are located in players’ Pet Interface, under Follower Pets, where they can be summoned as pets.

• In order to summon a Clan Avatar as a pet, you must currently be a member of a clan and have activated a buff from your Citadel’s Avatar Control Stone within the last week.

Note: It is no longer required to have a Clan Avatar summoned in order to benefit from its buffs. However you do need to summon the Clan Avatar whilst in the Clan Citadel if you want it to collect resources. Only clan members with the required permission can set which resources are gathered, but once set, all Avatars will collect these resources.
