We got a M/S rework this year, so I'm quite ready to "dig into" a new skill in 2020.Never uses treasure hunter keys. Never buys runecoins or bonds. Never pays extra for 'Premier' status or passes. Never will.
I'm not averse to a new skill every so often but I'd be happier if they'd not have this wasteland of no new unlocks on existing skills. Gaining xp just for the sake of gaining xp is really rather dull; it'd be far more interesting working towards a new goal (unlock).
I'd much rather see reworks of: - Combat - PvP - Minigames - Mining & Smithing - RuneCrafting (it's way too focussed on runespanning) - Crafting (useless) - Woodcutting (useless) - Dungeoneering (outdated & bugged) - The F2P area (too cluttered, advertisements everywhere, lack of immersion, too much outdated content) - Treasure Hunter (and with rework, I mean remove)
A new skill just doesn't interest me, as there are enough skills lacking content already.
Krystellesaid: Personally, I don't think it is possible to rework RS3 because the amount of contents is too big. A complete rework would take forever.
What has been wrong in RS3 is the lack of contents (not bossing) that promote interractions between players.
Not everything has to do with heroes killing monsters
It's pretty much this. As someone who's played this since RSC was the only version of the game, played RS2 since its release and experience every up/down this game has had - I can say without a shadow of a doubt what's wrong with RS3 is its lack of community
(permanently segregating the once strong and single community with RS3/OS was Jagex shooting themselves in the foot and only exacerbated this).
Shauny might praise the clan chat system and what not but I directly blame it for degrading what was once a close, tight knit community where everyone knew everyone through someone; now it just breeds multiple closed circuit communities where you only interact with those inside the one you belong to and promotes anti social behaviour which is painfully obvious if you actually look at how little people openly interact with each other.
As for a rework I think people are confusing rework with what the transition from RS2 to RS3 was, I would argue that was in fact an overhaul rather than a rework. Granted it's not exactly fully completed yet (a lot of areas are still pre RS3 even after all these years) so to even consider or spend a second on the thought of what would effectively be RS4 is almost unrealistic - it would likely take Jagex literally years from now to do that.
If I'm honest I'm starting to drift again from this after returning 3 or so years ago. It's not the same game for me, not mechanic wise but simply there's no openly social community anymore. Archaeology might attempt to fix that, based off what I've heard, but I'm highly doubtful. The game needs fresh blood badly.
I dont know if you guys realize this but the archeology skill is already more than half developed. If they cancel it now, therell be no update for January and no bigger update till probably next summer. Itd be asinine to cancel it now and a horrible waste of dev time. Also, this is the longest weve ever gone without a new skill (4 years). And I for one am bored and ready for a new skill.
The M&S update was excellent but honestly as someone who already had 99 smithing and mining I didnt have much reason to interact with the content after a month or so. A new skill will keep me busy much longer.
