I am one of many that prefer the legacy client.
yes it will run on my collection of old laptops.
yes nxt runs fine on my desktop PC.

computers are Not the issue

I and many others just do not Like nxt.
nxt never stops downloading data - even after its bloated cache is full -
nxt is still data hungry and never seems to stop eating data
each time it needs to reload the client?
nxt has latency/lag issues because of all its never ending eating of data
used it a few days ago - still the same lag and glitches of bad colors and fog that can not be turned off.

perhaps they should release an nxt lite?
less content, stop the continuous download of data, no shadows, less flora, less fauna
should be less bugs.
[much like the legacy client that had "true" safe mode]

an idea to be considered.

not sure, its good enough to use i guess. i still use java client too, and if it uses less data i.e. cellphone data im much more for the legacy client. i agree with the nxt lite. too much on the eyes anyways. because of java being removed i gotta buy a new laptop this month :/

its a bummer you have to buy a new laptop.
If your in the Western States the laptop prices "might" be lower near Christmas.
maybe after New Years?
my laptop is a Lenovo thats a few years old with an I5 cpu thats a little faster than those new i series of today - my graphics are the intel on board and that machine runs nxt just as well as other machines I have seen.
on fleabay [ebay] they might cost around $200 usd for one like mine. its a T410 [14"]
of course others are to be had too - from my use the lenovo laptops have done well.

yes it has a clean win7 pro install. it will do win10 [I just dont like it] I will not run win10 as it is a mess [IMO]

I have even run nxt on older lenny laptops with xp pro and they did fine.
nxt is just a bad client it is glitchy on all machines I have used and seen it on.

as you noticed - nxt is more of a headache that Id not like to use.

another vote for the possibility of nxt lite

That's incorrect though. Provided that a player has pre-downloaded the cache on the NXT client, then the NXT client uses much less data in the long term than the Java client. I've used less than 10MB in 1.5 hours on the NXT client. That's literally nothing...

Unless you cannot download the cache for some reason, then using "mobile data" to say the Java client is better, is a poor argument.

nice that you know this.:)
in the past nxt used approximatly 3 GB to fill its cache
after that it continued to use around 1 GB in a few hours -
making it use about what many movies in medium res use.

having a data cap of 25GB a month
[this varies according to your willingness to pay]

When at other people houses that have unlimited data internet
when 2 players are active using nxt
the movie lags here and there.
if a third person starts to play using nxt - everything chokes.
If the third player uses the legacy client - there is no difference.
This of course has been personal experience on various d times and days.

So yes nxt has been a data hog.

I was asking & Hoping that nxt is better now?

I know last month nxt proved to be a data hog -
I asked with the hope that nxt might be better now?

your report is 1 that states it is better now. thank you

does nxt still continue to down load data After the cache has been filled?

A few dozen KB on initial load, then very little data afterwards. 1-2MB/hour.

Wow
THANK YOU
that is good to know!
that is minimal data -
you are the third person that tells me this good news!

I will try a new download - clear my cache of the bad memories and try nxt again
