In an attempt to seem relevant sate my curiousity, I sat down to figure out which towns and cities in Gielinor are the best for getting that roleplay buzz. I sent a survey around, to get some idea of what people on 42 look for in a city. About time I give the results of that survey, yeah?

People view a variety of houses as a generally important thing, with no negatives, and an even split between "Very Important" and "Important."

A good castle is somewhat good. It won't break a location, but it's a nice bonus to have.

Shops and stalls are a good asset! Roughly 1/5 respondants thought it was vital, and half found it to be a nice touch.

The same applies to Rich and Slims districts, though slums were valued as slightly more important.

Racial and Religious diversity didn't seem to matter to most respondants, ranking highest on neutral barring a few outliers.

Lore factions are a nice touch, but not required.

Above and beyond though, the most important thing to roleplayers in a roleplay location is a great bar, and plenty of roleplayers about.

So what does this translate into? Check out the next ten cities to see the best, with this data, for roleplaying in.

10. Rellekka

The longhall may make for a fine place to kick back mead, but this hardy town lacks an inn because outsiders are not wholly welcome. Sporting a great market and many houses, Rellekka is a hard place for freelance due to the dislike of outsiders, but a great place for local Fremennik roleplay.

9. Seers Village

Seers Village is home to one of the best bars, featuring an Inn and a counter that can be worked. It however, lacks in the housing department, with much of the housing being connected together.

8. Darkmeyer

With the largest slums, rich, and middle class areas, Darkmeyer has a variety of houses downpat. However, it's drawbacks are horrifying. The city is quest-locked, requires a certain outfit or you are attacked, and it lacks a bar. Fortunately, Vampyres just need an open space (say, the bank) and a few humans to drink to make a functional bar.

7. Draynor

Between the grand and spooky manor, a scenic spot on the water, and a great variety of houses, Draynor houses the only Speakeasy in Runescape, as well as some gang activity. Draynor is a vibrant little town, and would rank higher if it was a little bigger.

6. Al Kharid

Al Kharid is close behind Sarim, mostly due to a lack of a bar. As a positive, it is entirely climbable, allowing thieving roleplay from the rooftops of the market.

5. Sarim

Shops and houses are great, and with a decent bar, and plenty of shop and house combinations, even a jail, Sarim is a great spot for roleplay.

4. Canifis

This little swamptown was once the greatest hotspot of Morytania, and for good reason. Not only does it sport one of the best inns, but it has a few unique houses for its size. The drawbacks? It's small, and due to recent events a bit out of the way.

3. Ardougne

Ardougne is a great city for roleplay. With the largest market, largest rich and poor districts, a bar, an inn, and a few churches, the only reason it doesn't rank higher is the number of people who hang around it.

2. Falador

A single bar, and rather lackluster houses, Falador's saving graces are the sheer number of roleplayers in the area, and variety of shops in the West Square.

1. Varrock

With a handful of rpers in the square, a multitude of shops, bars, churches, and a cool castle to boot? It's no wonder iconic Varrock tops this list!

Survey?

I sent a survey around to a few chats I'm in. Won't deny this gives a bit of a bias of "the groups Nat hangs out with generally like these qualities and these places" but yeah.
