Christmas event items used to be for everyone

First you give some players 200 - 450 Treasure Hunter keys for free. Then a day later you add Christmas rares, that are rewarded by collecting enchanted snow, which is obtained from skilling, PvM, and mostly from Treasure Hunter. And the amount of winnable rares is limited. Bravo Jagex, Bravo. :|

Sounds fair to me.

Jagex did mess up giving charging them the keys in the first place causing people bank balances to go into negative, and would of taken some manhours to remove the keys from the people account.

the least they could do (and what they should do) is make skilling a better source for snow than SoF2: Spin-tastic Boogaloo. do you remember when jagex said they would never add more tradeable rares? well, they seem to have doubled back on that just like every other time they promise us something. notice how all these tradeable rares are (in practice) only obtainable through SoF2?

this is just as bad as letting players buy gold, or xp, or mary sue kits. so done with this bull. once i get my new pc im going to find a new game that doesnt sell out like this.

They broke that promise last Christmas with the release of black santa.

I don't mind the mircotransaction part of this event, this is Jagex we are talking about and I would of expected this event to have MTX in it when you need to collect 50k exchanted snow to get the maximum 50 chances for a small present, which is BS imo. Jagex is just about milking this game for cash.

and the year before that with christmas tree hats. i dont understand why you would say you are not bugged by this. jagex has made it essentially a tradition to give its players the chance to get the most out of a holiday event without there being a pay wall. expecting a scummy company to be scummy is one thing, but not being phased when they are being scummy with you is another.

christmas events are the biggest in the game, because unlike halloween, thanksgiving, easter, and valentines day, christmas is celebrated by almost every single country on earth. ruining it for everyone by making a SoF2 promotion is disgusting.

well you kinda need to rephrase what your saying, yes they are ruining the chrismas event for you all here on rs3, but that is your own fault for playing rs3... me personally get to sit and laugh, because guess what?
I play 07:P, you know what that means right, no alice and no tt and guess what else:) we get a fair chrismas season..so with that being said and the 10's of thousand on old school are all going to have a fair chrismas season :P they aren't making it unfair for everyone....only to you peeps on rs3....truthfully if you wanted a equal oprotunity on this game quit rs3 and play old school its very easy I did it with multiple 99's on this account....cherrio:P

how about you stop sniffing your colon. i didnt vote yes for 07 for smug idiots like you to sh*t up both communities. if all you are going to do is be self conceited, id rather you not post.

to the point, jagex has a very poor reputation for keeping its promises. microtransactions in 07 are just around the corner, and you know it.

well ill be damned. the first scythe i see was won after someone bought spins, handing in 50 snowballs yesterday. know what he said hes doing today? buying more spins so he can turn in another 50 snowballs. its not even possible to earn 50k snow a day without buying spins.

what a shame the option to report for RWT was removed.

people can get multiple items in one draw. whereas with balthazars raffle you could only win once per draw. kinda sucks to be honest, not only that but i'm sure that some people will probably win multiple christmas scythes or rubber turkeys

someone has already won two scythes on the first day.

I find it very ironic that there are people ranting about this while wearing santa hats and party hats. The old rares were able to be picked up by anyone who was online during the events, now you need to do something to acquire them. I don't understand what's the point here, are you just envious for someone as you haven't yet got any of them? if so, should everyone be envious for those who were playing RS when for example Santa hats were dropped? This is what I meant it being ironical to rant about his and be wearing a santa hat.

If you don't get any rares, why cry about it? If you buy a lottery ticket and don't win, do you rant about it or just buy another ticket? Also please note that there's no way playing lottery without buying a ticket while you CAN get a lot of snowballs for free...

its not being ironic because the situation is not even remotely the same. jagex is literally selling rares to people, during the christmas event of all times.
ive spoken with people who have gotten the scythe and they straight up admitted that they bought keys just to get a rare. in absolutely no way is that similar to having them spawn on the ground for everyone to pick up.

my concern is not in that only some people will get them, but rather that the only realistic way to get them is by forking over money to jagex or spins.

So are the snowballs exp based? like killing npcs. How much exp to get snowballs?

no, because that would be fair.
theyre earned randomly, similar to how keys are randomly earned, only more frequently.
