1. None of that has anything to do with this thread topic.

2. There is no explanation in that quote you posted regarding a ban.

3. When someone is issued a forum ban, they cannot log into the forums. Off-Topic and Rants require that you be logged into the forums in order to read threads. Even if there was an explanation in the post you quoted, there is no way for a user who has been banned from the forums to read a post that is made in a forum section that requires you to be logged in.

You can view the forums as a guest, excluding rants and selective specialists.

Off-Topic also requires you to be logged in... That was already mentioned. It's literally in the quote you posted...

Do you have any kind of a citation for this?

How do you know that someone didn't accidentally click the "ban" button?

no idea but i no longer wish to give people the benefit of the doubt around here. if we knew the username of the account that was banned then i'd bet there's a chance one of the regulars might know the reason for the ban.
no fun allowed, guys.
Do you like towels?

Just so you're aware, this isn't related to any specific incident.

That's why the opening post doesn't have anything related to a specific incident.

The thread is about how users are not given an explanation of why they were banned, when they are banned from the forums.

You would expect that a user should receive an inbox message explaining the ban, however, this is not the case.

There's also the "3 strikes" on the forums, yet, there is no way to check how many "strikes" you have, nor does anyone ever tell you if you've just gotten a "strike" (other than on FMR if you pester the JMods).

It seems a bit unprofessional to leave people wondering what it was that they were banned for, and provide them no explanations, nor a place where they can request an explanation.

Forum strikes are considered on a case-by-case basis. Receiving a temporary forum mute by a Forum or Jagex moderator will not always result in a forum strike, however we will always communicate any forum mutes or strikes to you via your in game inbox.

I guess Jagex just want to look merciful, but in reality they hate their customers.

That's what they say, but that's completely untrue. I don't think I've ever gotten an inbox message from a forum mute/ban/strike.

Even when Fmods sit there telling me "Jagex will contact you".... they never do. It's just a big lie to try and placate you.

Odd. I never got a message for my 24 hour mute in 2016.

Oh. Lol. Apologies. I don't really read what people say, to be completely honest. I'm just still here for a few more postcount.

Thanks for pointing it out, though!

You can check you account status from you account settings.

At the top right of page click account then just go to account status.
