The JMod is, indeed, stating the exact opposite of the CoC by saying that topics like race, religion etc are not allowed.

Religious topics most certainly are and there's at least one long-standing thread on Christianity. Idk about Race - can't remember seeing one apart from the crap troll thread currently in OT.

Maybe the JMod didn't get the Memo.

Fortunately the bulk of the moderating on the forums is done by the FMods, who are entirely aware of the contents of the CoC.

The JMod who made the response in question to you, Chief, has been a JMod for some considerable time. And has been adjudicating on specialist forums for a very long time.
He is a recent addition to the LLF.

As such he really should be entirely aware of the CoC and the LLF Rules. But appears not to be.

As for Meadows, he started very well and most of us were delighted. Then he all but disappeared, as they all do.

I think you are in a good position to judge. Or at least make public comment.

When someone is appointed to undertake a duty, it behooves them to appraise themselves of the rules & regs that govern that duty. Seems to have been a fairly major failure in this case, which has the potential to effect everyone using the RSOF.

I'm not entirely sure why this thread was initially locked. Anyhow, it's been unlocked on the basis that 'further discussions' can take place.

Going back to the core topic - that being a contradictory statement made by a JMod - what basis of further discussion needs to take place?

In OT discussions on e.g. religion, politics is allowed. It has been allowed for quite some time now. It was instituted by a JMod and has never been withdrawn (at least, no one has been informed of such a move).

Another JMod appears and states categorically that discussions on this subject are not allowed.

There is no need for discussion. Not between us anyway.

A JMod needs to simply say that the privilege for such discussions has been withdrawn now OR that the latest JMod made a blunder in his public statement and such discussions are still permitted. It's that easy.

So if the JMod made a blunder in his latest public statement what's the worst that can happen? No one is going to poke him with pitchforks and set fire to him. Just spit it out and we can all move on.

What on earth are you wittering on about?

Such topics are allowed in OT and have been for a long time.
Without warning a JMod says they are not even though no formal announcement of such has been made and no other F or J Mod knows anything about a Rule change.

So either ther CoC is wrong, or the JMod is wrong. That is what Chief is trying to establish.

"We don't allow topics that are controversial like race, religion, etc on these forums and this thread was treading on that controversial line".

Bullshit.
