Predictions:

1. This thread will attract the usual crew of haters and negative posters, who will jump at the chance to criticise Jagex and its employees.

2. You will be reminded that discussion of moderator (including JMod) actions is to be restricted to the Forum Moderation Review thread and this thread will be locked.
Pretty glad this didn't happen.

I've seen an Fmod abuse this to carry out a personal vendetta.

On topic, I find it extremely concerning that Mod Lee isn't aware of the most recent iteration of the rules, which took effect in 2017.

Worry for something that the Jmod said to him, which does not actually rewrite anything?

That message Chief Elf received was an exclusive feedback for him, for his report in FMR and does not apply for the rest of the forumers. Remember, reporting in FMR is hidden, we don't know the contents and context of Chief Elf's report and he is restricted, he cannot reveal his own report for us to discuss publicly.

Chief Elf, it is better if you go back to FMR and seek clarification. Since it is really delicate to discuss the context of this case, without us knowing your own report there. You are the only person that knows the entire story, your report -- we only saw the public response of a Jmod.
Even without context, it is still not acceptable for a Jmod (or Fmod, or any other person of authority in the forums) to be unfamiliar or uncertain of the current version of the forum rules.

Again, that jmod statement is exclusive for your report only, that was why the response is addressed to you - alone (you were specifically named). No need to worry about changing ruling, as nothing really changed. The Jmod you spoke with does not make the rules/policies and rulings here in RSOF. That Jmod only helped with watching-over FMR, so as not to have a repeat of report backlogs there. I'm not defending him, in fact nobody is capable of doing so as we all lack the context of the whole story. That Jmod should speak for himself, which you already seek in FMR, so what you can only do is to wait for him to respond.

You are still missing the point of the thread.

I really don't know how to word this in a better way, but... which part of "not based on context" do you not understand? I'm genuinely concerned.

Addendum: No, honestly, this is really concerning. You used your Fmod power, your lock tool, to cease discussion on a thread based on a MISREADING of the thread topic. Because you read it WRONGLY.

And while it's a good thing that this thread is now unlocked, what about the cases where escalation to a Jmod didn't occur?

How many people have had their threads locked and posts hidden because you read their posts incorrectly? How much discussion on these forums have been prematurely stifled because of your misinterpretations and misunderstandings?

It seems pretty apparent to me.

Individual: "We don't allow topics that are controversial like race, religion."
Code of Conduct: "Though politics and religion threads are now permitted."
...

(snip)

It still is a matter of common sense.
The difference explained between yours "don't" & "permitted".
Leniency ... asked many times by forum-users.
Lnkmiegel, they are contradictory. I really don't know how you can claim otherwise.
