So im basically writing this thread to address my thoughts on the Grand Exchange advertisers. I know as well as everyone else about the reoccurring botters and scammers that seems to appear out of no where and they come in no short supply.

Every single world there are DOZENS of accounts advertising youtube websites and gambling. If it is against the rules then why has it been months and months and months of these people spamming and filling up the chat box? Every time i go to the Grand Exchange i have to ignore multiple accounts just so i can read the regular chat, its some what time consuming considering the fact i visit the market multiple times and every visit it seems every account ive ignored has been replaced by another spammer or advertiser. Why doesnt jagex inflict harsher punishments against these rule breakers?

Why is my immersive OSRS experience continually tarnished by real world advertisers? I dont play this game to hear about winning millions by visiting a youtube page and i dont play this game so i can gamble my money away by the same botter wearing red cloths waving a chinese fan at their face.

Frankly im SICK AND TIRED of it. Why doesnt jagex inflict harsher punishments against these people? I would go as far to say that these so called rule breakers are not even receiving any type of penalty at all, but thats just from a perspective of someone who see's no end to the lawlessness.

OSRS is already degraded by the scammers who operate in a way to where the words they say and the tactics they use avoid penalty, so why cant we at least do away with what they say is already against the rules.

How do the repeated offenders and script using chat spammers/advertisers continuously slip through the cracks? Has jagex become somewhat lenient against these 3rd party traders?

Ill say right now without fear of criticism from others its fucking annoying and its ruining the game.

Im tired of scammers and and advertisements. DO SOMETHING JAGEX

If prior experience is something to go by, I'd say that what we see at the GE each day is actually the stragglers that managed to make it through Jagex's early detection.

While Jagex won't provide details on their detection as doing so could compromise how they work, I do remember a time period when some of their systems did not appear to be working. Rather than the typical 3-5 spammers that you might see on a busy trade world, there were 50-100, all there at the same time. As soon as it was working again, the number went down again, and barely any were present.

Its a never ending battle - Jagex bans many of these a day, but each time one is removed from play, another one is immediately taking its place. Reporting the ones you see does help, as information from the report could end up being useful for eventually aiding whatever systems they have in place to better pick up and remove of these accounts.

If they are being replaced as you say, then that's actually a good thing - it means the other account has likely been permanently removed from the game - evidence that Jagex is working to keep the game free of those advertisers.

Id say report them and get them on that ignore list buddy,

Unfortunately with the high amount of players we're bound to meet the odd scammer and and rule breaker, all i can reccomend is the more you report the more they get noticed and banned/muted

Best of luck with your Scaping

what about the people who advertise clan chats for swapping gold, you go into the clan chat and theres about 20 different alt accounts all with extremely low stats to give the appearance of an actual clan but its just to attract people to scam. Its obviously the same person with multiple accounts running the whole clan chat. How is he not ip banned for running such a huge and long running scam? Explain that to me. Thats the type of scamming im talking about, the ones that go on for months, and only the advertising account gets banned for it. Why dont they investigate things for in depth? Why dont they take out more ring leaders? Why do honest players who just want to play in peace have to take things to a whole different level in exasperation just to be stifled by the same mods preaching the same thing every time "yeah they ban people all the time" yeah well NO SHIT. Blizzard can easily take care of their botting and scamming problems. WHY CANT JAGEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Swapping is a tricky one I think - it isn't something that is against the game rules, so I'd imagine Jagex can only step in there when a scam happens. That means it would be up to the player who was scammed to report the players who scammed them (as they would have the evidence of being scammed).

You can't really preemptively ban someone for scamming when they haven't actually scammed, after all.
