Jagex announced during their Q&A stream that they'll be offering another official statement after several top rank skillers on the front page have been busted for abusing client plugins. This is getting ridiculous and needs to go. I have no idea why they've let it slide on up until the point where the majority of the skilling community is on botting clients to maintain their precious ranks on the hiscores. This should be a wake up call. Draft dodger btw. Too scared to attack an enemy that tried to harm my loved ones so "I only learned to defend". Typical boomer born right after the era where my parents suffered the solitude of WWII, deprivation of the Great Depression while I never had to suffer jack or risk a thing. :)

Wish they'd just make using a 3rd party client bannable regardless of the features used, and update the default client with stuff that actually fit the game. Would make it easier for them to detect cheaters and discourage legitimate players from typing their account credentials on unsafe clients.

Third party clients aren't the problem its the people making OP plugins, The default client is old and outdated

What? You thought it'd stop with some simple world hoppers? Hell, even that shit's broken since it offered advantages that the vanilla client didn't offer. If you're gonna cry about an old school game being "old and outdated", you may as well just go play one of the thousand other games out there flooded with MTX. The companies running those are at least functional and have their rulebreaking under control.

In my opinion the problem with Third-Party Clients is the competition between them too. While yes the developers are making these pluggins to gain benefits and advantages in-game, if your client doesn't attract players it won't be used. Therefore, each developer is trying to create new methods and pluggins to attract players wanting an easier advantage.

I think the clients have wonderful benefits, it's just Jagex might need talk to developers of these clients about what pluggins count as rule-breaking. For example, potion timers are a nice quality of life addition where changing right click options is gaining advantage.

I rest assure Jagex will be efficient and find a solution soon.

Why should 3PC users get potion timers when Vanilla client users don't? Also, the top ranks on the hiscores are openly botting their way there on stream yet Jagex cba to address this shit. I wouldn't have too much faith in them.

I agree, some top level player have been abusing these pluggins but we can only wait for what Jagex have to say about it in their official statement. Until then we cannot be making assumptions here and there.

Third-Party Clients have been around since the early days of Runescape. For example, some clients back in 2005-07 had potion timers. The only thing these days is technology has advanced and so have programming languages so more extreme and powerful pluggins can be implemented, which is a concern and Jagex have addressed.
