Double XP: A Concept

Proposal by Gan The God

Let's face it, Runescape is and has always been an intense grindy experience. Wouldn't it be nice to get a small break from the norm, a small boost in speed, and a renewed interest in skilling? A solution I have come up with is for a boosted XP event. Unlike a Runescape 3 XP boost, this boost will be carefully placed to prevent pre-merching items to inflate prices for temporary gain.

The Idea

Announce a boosted Experience event set for a specific date or dates.
The boost will have an experience cap so it won't be abused.
The boost will be for a random skill/skills to prevent inflation on items used for training.
The boost will only be available to Members to attract new memberships.
And finally, the Boost will only be available in a certain area of the map. Perhaps a new training area. And all items created in the area will be untradeable/destroyed at the events end. This will prevent an influx of items into the game. There will be an NPC, similar to holiday events, that will explain the workings and layout of the area.
This could potentially be a recurring event in a permanent map location.

This is a concept and will be adjusted with other input.

Thank you,
Gan the God

Double exp events (and other garbage event content) are one of the main reasons I quit RS3. I boycotted every single one of them back in the day, and I definitely don't want them in OSRS.

None of your "fixes" address the root problem, which is that double-exp events are gimmicky event content which I hate.

I don't even care about arguments like "devaluing achievements" in general. I just hate stuff like this with a passion.

That's a fair response I guess. I could also say that I don't know anyone that likes training runecrafting but it's there. I think an event like this would be good for the game. It would prevent humungous boosts on hiscores and people's banks while allowing a more casual player the chance for a quick boost.

I'm training range atm, i'd welcome a boost as each level takes hours of grind, that said giving a boost devalues the skill

I don't think it would devalue the skill much. They could even scale The Experience cap based on your current level.

It would. No support.

So a Capped boost in xp would completely ruin a skill?

The first week the game was online, possibly even before that, they ran a thread in the forum asking about 2xw, and got a huge negative response. Because it was a jmods thread it had no limit like others, and it went to something like 8000 post. The vast majority of that 8k was negative. I seriously doubt the feelings has changed that much. Stop being a entitled snowflake. If you want something in game, earn it rather than demand it be given to you.
