We all know the relics that command respect. The hooded ranger, each hand wielding a crossbow of radiant crystal. The warrior, regal beneath a paper crown, hauling a scythe fit to purge the wicked. The elite mage with the very essence of the universe upon his palm.

But - why are these weapons so important?

There are very few weapons in Runescape that are lorefully unique, with their own stories and legendary history. There is Balmung, crafted by a Mahjarrat and wielded by the Sigrid clan for generations to cleanse the land of daggermouths. The Sunspear, choice weapon of Queen Efaritay, wielded to cruelly ironic effect by Lowerniel, broken and reformed in the liberation of Morytania. The original godswords, product of Aviansie craftsmanship, supposedly imbued with the power to slay a deity.

But the storied weapons are few and far between. The Telos weapons were dropped into the game with no loreful explanation. Zaros had a godsword? What? And most of our tier 90s are just limbs that we broke off of giant bugs and decided to start swinging around.

So, why don't more of our weapons have a story? Why aren't more of them unique? Do you think this will change in the future?

And - what about the weapons that DO have a story? Which ones speak to you? Are there any weapons that may be unique, but have simply never been explored (eg Barrows)?

I'm happy drygores aren't unique or have any story... it means that even though gameplay-wise they might be the best weapons, lore-wise they're just spiderlegs that you'd have to be insane to bring into combat (meaning... that you aren't actually doing that, if you ask me)

the ingame godswords aren't 'the' godsword btw although I think you know this

the soa and the other soa would probably count as weapons too, although neither of them actually are, one's a shield and the other's an elder screwdriver

lorewise rune and dragon weapons are probably the best of the non-unique weapons

Zaros godsword came into the game because dumbass Zarosian fan boys and girls. They don't care about the lore. They follow Zaros blindly like a bunch of dumbass Democrats. They just ask,'Why isn't there a Zaros godsword?"...Yep, like all typical Democrats..when they want it..they want it fast. They don't care who they offended or step over or the results before or after or care about the facts. They just want it fast and now.

As for Jagex..they know it will be big money...cuz some players don't boss. They rather buy the weapon. You be surprise what type of players who spent REAL LIFE CASH buying bonds and reselling them back in GE for money AND use that money to buy the sword. The last time I did the math..it was a month ago..so it is outdated. The last time I did the math..it will cost $800 USD worth of Bonds to buy, resell in GE for ingame cash and use that cash to buy a Zaros godsword.

The rest of us who kinda of read and understand the lore of the godsword. We know that Zaros was long gone before the Godsword idea even came around.

Might as well add these listed Godswords too: Why? Don't ask.

Guthix
Seren
Tuska
Tumeken(Lcthllarin's father)
Eladinis(Lcthlarin's mother)
Lcthlarin
V
Marimba

Even though Sliske is not a god...we might a well put a Sliske Godsword too. Why? Do it for the fan boys and girls.

1. Political party bashing? Seriously?

2. The original GWD had next to no lore about itself and its drops until 2012.

3. Here are 2 explanations as to why the Zaros godsword can exist in lore:

a. The godsword went missing at some point in GWD 1. Nex and her followers at one point escaped their prison, causing casualties to all sides in the dungeon. Nex and her followers later escaped a second time when Guthix's resting place was uncovered. Vindicta and her forces did not show up to Guthix's resting place despite purportedly being active at the time.

What if, Nex's forces managed to recover the actual godsword back when they first escaped. At some point during their second escape, they cross paths with Vindicta and her forces, and pass the blade off to her. Vindicta makes an unpowered hilt for and completes the sword. She takes the sword to the HoG in the hopes of empowering it, but it is eventually lost over the edge and ends up in Telos's possession.

b. Vindicta hears about the legend of the godsword. She commissions her best metalworkers to forge a blade to rival that legend. As Zaros has not yet returned before she enters the battle for the Heart, her 'godsword' is dormant as the hilt was not empowered by a god. At least part of her reason for seeking control of the Heart is so she can empower the godslaying weapon to help level the playing field against the factions with gods present.

Again, however, it gets lost over the edge during the initial chaos.

I mean, you might as well have argued that the Zamorak godsword was a lore fail prior to the added lore drops. Because, you know, he wasn't actually part of the alliance that worked on initially forging the blade and so wouldn't have made a hilt until after the K'ril was already embroiled in combat over it.

It's not like Zamorak could have:

Heard about the godsword from his spies and created his own hilt with the plan to steal the blade during transit.

or

Smuggled the hilt into the dungeon to his general after they learned what the Aviansie had been up to.

Rofl, take it down a notch kiddo. We don't have any say in what goes in or out of the game, Try not to project your political views onto us as well, we're not interested.
