It might be Intels fault, or Microsofts, both, and even other parties we aren't considering. That's all irrelevant to the fact it's Jagex's problem. And I can only imagine there are a significant amount of people who have had this issue, and gone back to using the Java client, saying NXT doesn't work for them, being told their hardware should support it and to go "update their graphics drivers" because that should fix it, only creating the problem to begin with. If not quitting in general, because the performance on that compatability mode is horrendous even on my RTX 2060, getting something like 5fps.

I can honestly only feel bad for all the people who've had an issue, and been laughed at for the problem having had people tell them how easy it is to do these things such as update drivers, and how their PC must be broken when they reinstall Windows and Windows will automatically fetch the newest, still broken driver.

Hopefully this thread will get some attention. We have at least one lovely Community Helper who frequents in this subforum, and they might be able to escalate the issue on up to where it needs to be, of course, it's Christmas time now and this is a low level engine fix, so I'd not expect anything to be done now until January at minimum, and that's being optomistic about however trivial this fix might be.

Anyway, thanks to you for doing the further testing yourself, since it confirms the severity and ongoingness of the issue, so although it might have taken 6 months, at least it probably will get some attention now.

Dear Singularity and other forumers,
I think we can also try posting in another thread, but I doubt whether that thread is still monitored by Jmod any more

In the forum "General"

Java client, do you still use?

Furthermore, I am thinking about how long the Gen9 and Gen9.5 graphics in Skylake/KabyLake/CoffeeLake will still get new driver support
The Gen11 graphics is coming out to IceLake (very limited number)
But Intel in the future will focus on their serious graphics card architecture Xe, which is used in Gen12 integrated graphics, and Gen9 graphics is already nearly 5 years old.
I guess if it is Intel or Microsoft's Fault, and if Jagex do not get in touch with them soon, they will be providing very limited driver update in the near future and do not bother to fix the NXT issue
So I think Jagex really need to act quickly here,
or otherwise, a great number of modern/latest hardware will become unable to play NXT
thats really bad

I'm trying to spread word as much as I can. It's bizarre how this issue has gone on as long as it has. Just got to persevere and hope a mod eventually pays attention. .

I've raised this as a priority to be looked into, with the caveat that it is currently the xmas period so it may be a while

Most of our routine testing focuses on old GPUs/drivers, it is rare that anything breaks exclusively on new GPUs/drivers, so if it's any consolation I can see how this flew under the radar

It makes sense how it's flown under the radar in terms of the inhouse compatibility testing. It makes less sense how it's flown under the radar in terms of the fact someone reported this 6 months ago and it's not been looked into because the company support is lacking, such as the bug report tool specifically telling you to go away if you were to try file it properly.

That's not me having a go at you personally or anything, I know your job isn't in the support role, but certainly, the current support infrastructure is lacking in many ways. A decade ago it wouldn't have been unreasonable for a JMod to have seen that original post and escalated it. Whereas now you have to get lucky or make a scene for important information to end up where it needs to be.

I'm hopeful that in the future this will improve. However I am very much aware that the trend is this has consistently only gotten worse overtime, and that makes me a salty Hmm ;(

Anyway, thanks Dark. And have a good Christmas :)!

The only concern for me is when Gen9/Gen9.5 graphics will become legacy product that will only get minimal driver support with new driver fixing only critical bug and then it will no longer get any new driver
It looks like the Comet Lake (Another skylake based processor refresh) still use Gen9.5 graphics
But later one should be Gen12
Gen12 graphics is something fundamentally different from any of Intel's previous GPU, it is designed by Indian team lead by the legendary Indian GPU architect Raja Koduri that Intel hire from AMD
It will be no surprise if Intel draw a line that products before Gen12 will no longer get new driver or only get very poor driver support
Let's see what Intel will announce in CES2020 and we can guess when Intel will turn their Gen9 and 9.5 graphics into legacy product

Ah, good to see it's been raised as a priority. Considering Windows keeps automatically updating and it's a hassle to stop automatic driver updates, the sooner it's resolved, the better.

I didn't know about it myself until a few days ago as I don't use Intel iGPUs to play the game any more.
