This thread is NOT about whether or not the free to play game deserves updates. Jagex already understand that the game needs to be updated from time to time to keep the game fresh for new and existing players. This is a list of existing content I believe would make the free version more of a complete game without significantly breaking the skilling or combat system in place.

Quests Suggestions:

Call of the Ancestors
Impressing the Locals
What Lies Below
Lost City
All Fired up
Recruitment Drive
Buyers and Cellars
Rune Memories

With the exception of the Lost City, these eight quests are the only ones that are currently locked behind a paywall that can be entirely completed in F2P zones (or adjacent to) with F2P stats. Since a lot of players play for the quests and immersion, implementing these quests would add more content for free and returning players to accomplish without having to invest in creating more content from scratch.

Prayer:

retribution, smite, redemption

Smite as a prayer would be very useful in a f2p fight which has had prayer potions for some time now. Pkers will often have a high valued plus one like a gud raider axe or a corrupt dragon spear in f2p. These changes would make pking more enjoyable, although a relatively small number of players would benefit significantly from it.

Bossing:

Demon Flash Mobs

JMods have talked about the need for F2P to have some kind of “prep” boss that will expose free players to the ins and outs of higher level PvM available in members worlds. Taking down a Demon Mob is impossible for a solo player in F2P gear, thus this requires more teamwork and coordination than existing F2P bosses.

Activities:

Mage Training Arena

Great area for F2P to get a wide range of rewards, with the most appropriate for ironmen in obtaining chaos, cosmic, law, runes etc.

Fish Flingers

This would become the new meta for the fastest F2P fishing exp in f2p (aside from oyster). As such, Fish Flingers would be almost guaranteed to undergo a revival with player counts not seen since prior to Deep Sea Fishing

Pest Control

Lore wise it would make sense as the Knights need all the help they can get. Making this minigame F2P would most likely attract a small number of f2pers, but this would be enough to run regular waves outside of spotlight.

Conclusion:

I don’t feel like F2P should get any more existing content updates from P2P aside from the content mentioned here. Doing so would probably alter the game world and/or the skilling system much more than it currently is. With these updates (and some regular content), Jagex could help make the F2P game feel more whole and enjoyable which would in turn encourage more players to subscribe through bonds or real life money.

You may now post.

No support for f2p improvements.

Definitely no support for f2p void.

Did I say that F2P would get Void? Please don't make assumptions about things I have or haven't said in the future. Thank you.

"No support for f2p improvements."

Unfortunately, this attitude is unconstructive. Jagex do from time to time update and improve the free version of Runescape. They do this because of the competition from similar sandbox F2P games like Albion and EVE online to the wide plethora of AAA F2P MMOS like TERA and GW2, even osme non-mmos like Dauntless that all compete for the player's time.

I specifically said in the conclusion that these should be the last of existing P2P content becoming F2P because any more would break existing skill and combat balancing in the game. After this, they could go back to adding more content every few months or so.

So why else would you ask for PC to be f2p?

Do you want the minigame itself and none of the rewards?

XP, mineral packs, and combat exp are the only options available to F2P off the start. Pest Control would mainly be for fun, and yes I do see your point that Pest Control is probably better off p2p because of this.

* Call of the Ancestors would require Tuska's back and all of Mazcab available for f2p. The thing is, f2pers really do not have anything worthwhile to do in Mazcab: raids, Airut and Mazcab shops would be way too high-level content for f2pers, and Mazcab reputation system is not particularly useful for f2pers, either. All in all, it'd be better to keep this quest members'-only.

* Similarly, Impressing the Locals is meant to be a prequel quest for accessing the Arc, and is meant to set up the Arc miniquests. Given that the Arc is high-level members'-only area and the Arc miniquests are equally high-level content, it'd also make sense to not allow f2pers to complete this quest, since not giving f2pers access to the main reward of the quest would just leave most people confused: the fact that the plot of the quest relies on the player knowing about the now-removed Eastern Mysteries miniquests would also confuse new-coming players.

* What Lies Below would fit as a f2p quest: all of the content f2pers would need to given access to is within the boundaries of f2p region, and if Chaos runecrafting is made available to f2p with the quest, the quest's main reward (Chaos Altar shortcut and the Beacon ring) would be useful to f2pers, as well.

* The Lost City is right on the edge of whether or not it'd fit as f2p content. There's nothing wrong with the quest itself: the addition of Entrana to f2p would fit quite well, and there's nothing in the quest itself which wouldn't work in f2p. The problem with adding Lost City to f2p is its main reward: access to Zanaris. The area is home to a lot of members-only content which most definitely could not be given access to f2pers, like Impetuous Impulses, Jukat's dragon weapon shop, mutated zygomites and Chaeldar. However, the area does have some content which would be perfectly useful for f2pers, like the cosmic altar, otherworldly beings, and the rest of the shops in Zanaris Marketplace. So, all in all, I would probably keep it members-only.

* All Fired Up could in theory be made an f2p quest, though the biggest problem with its addition to f2p is whether the Beacon Network minigame is added as well. The quest is clearly set up to function as a tutorial for the minigame, and most of the minigame's content is way too high-level for f2p, not to mention that some of the beacons are locked behind members-only content and that the main rewards that f2pers could even unlock from the minigame are the xp-boosting ring and gloves, which wouldn't really fit as f2p rewards, given that all the other xp-boosting equipment sets are members-only gear.

* Recruitment Drive's implemation has several problems. Due to its age and puzzles which aren't very user-friendly, adding it to f2p could actually do more harm than good. It's graphics are dated, which are in stark contrast to the graphically polished Falador, where the quest starts and ends. Finally, most of the quest's rewards are only useful to members (f2pers wouldn't be able to claim all of the Agility/Herblore xp, Initiate armour is members' only, and f2pers technically already have access to Falador respawn point due to respawn hubs).

* Buyers and Cellars suffers from the same problem as Recruitment Drive when it comes to rewards: the main rewards are content which makes earning Thieving experience better, which is useless to f2pers due to Thieving capping in f2p at 5, meaning that they would be unable to claim the experience reward and the Thieving training content in the guild would be useless for them.

* Like the Lost City, Rune Memories is on the edge of what content could be made f2p, but for different reasons. The quest was intended as a members-only sequel to a f2p quest, akin to how Diamond in the Rough is the members-only sequel to Stolen Hearts. However, unlike Diamond in the Rough, nothing in the quest is actually locked behind members-only content, so theoretically it could be added to f2p without any complication, if one would want to do so.

* New prayers: In my opinion, all of the three prayers definitely should be in f2p. Usually, f2p content continues until levels 50-60, and Prayer is currently the most noteworthy exception.

* Demon Flash Mob: While f2p does need beginner bossing content which serve as an entry to "proper" PVM, Demon Flash Mobs aren't that at all. A lot of their mechanics aren't appliable against other bosses, and most of their drops, including all of their unique drops, are members-only items.

* Mage Training Arena: While I do think that f2p could get access to Mage Training Arena, since the minigame uses f2p spells, none of the rewards are particularly fitting for f2p. That said, if the area is added to f2p without making any additions or changes to it, f2p could be at maximum allowed to access the Mage Training Arena minigame and buy runes, maybe Beginner-Teacher's wand and possibly Bones to Peaches, but not Master wand, Mages' book and Infinity robes.
