What's the best way to kill luminous snagglers?
Their magic attacks seem to cut through defensive prayers without too much trouble.

Looking for advice on style, equipment and inventory. The wiki gives no real strategy advice beyond 'avoid the special attack'.

Thanks for any help :)

Hi Archaeox,

I mage luminous snagglers, making sure I stay just in reach to hit them.

From time to time they will stream out three attacks which spread into 5 square radius around each, which if you are within any of the three areas, you will receive a great amount of damage quickly and most likely die.

Before that attack spreads, you will see the three begin like magic balls, and when you see that, run so you are out of the circumference of the attacks when they each spread to the 5 squares which is why I stand just in range to hit them. If you do that, and run at the beginning of their special attack, you won't get any damage from the attack.

When the attack ends ensure you step into range to continue fighting them again, or they fully heal and you need to start again. They also can heal with the attack.

I hope that is clear for you. If you need better explanation, just ask, and I'll try to make it clearer, but you will understand better when you fight them, but basically, when they make that attack run out of the way so you avoid it.

Best of luck,
Cheers

Hey Krystl,

Yes, as I pointed out before, avoiding their special attack is the limit of the 'strategy' suggested in the wiki.

I've been maging them too.

The special attack is not the problem. The problem is the amount of damage I'm taking from their regular attacks, even with defensive prayers active.

As mentioned, I'm really looking for advice on style, equipment and inventory here, to make these a more bearable task.

This is my loadout for everything on Anachronia - melee destroys all of the slayer creatures on the island and is quite effective. I'm able to heal off just my EE and maybe eat a few rocktails every 5 to 10 minutes. I also don't use auras during slayer (mostly because I just forget they exist lol).

Hi Archaeox,

I can't do a screen shot like Loki.

I wear superior seasingers robe top and bottom, not augmented, no shoes or gloves.
Slayer helmet. I just wear it. I wear it on most slayer tasks. I don't use scrolls.
Luck of Dwarves.
Tirannwn quiver 4. (I take it everywhere except the wildy so I never forget it).
I also take Spring cleaner for any salvage.

Augmented Nox staff - (precise 3, Equillibrium 2, Impatient 3).

They are weak to fire spells, so I use Fire surge spell.
I pray deflect magic curse to reduce their mage.

I don't always use an aura, but when I do, it's usually Aegis because it reduces damage.

I take a Steel titan with me, and it often takes the damage I would have taken, and sometimes dies. I take a spare with me.

I use Tuska's wrath ability when on tasks as it can hit 10,000 % of your Slayer level which hits really hard when on a slayer task.

To heal, I convert any adrenaline to life points using Regenerate ability when I need to heal as they are non aggressive so it's easy to do this between fighting each one.
I also have Guthix blessing ability which I also use to heal when needed.
I take food to heal when I really need it.

Sorry I only included the strategy I use for their main attack above. The most damage I take is usually from being slow in running out of the way of that attack, so I assume that is the most trouble others have.

It is different to Loki, but I hope between the two, it helps you.
Very best of luck.
Cheers

So, what I've ended up with...

Decided to follow Loki's advice and go for melee instead of maging.

Full masterwork armour with cinderbane gloves, nox scythe, protect from magic, vampire scrimshaw and aura, enhanced excalibur. Using overload potions as well. Not dissimilar to how I kill liverworts, actually.

Have yet to try with a familiar, but this is already going a lot better, thank you!

Still not particularly fun/pleasant, and I can't see myself wanting to kill them after I've got the soul for my collection, but a lot faster and less painful than my experiences using mage (with either seasinger or Virtus and nox staff with Ancient blood/fire spells).
