Mining & Smithing 110 Launching Today! - This Week In RuneScape

PSA: Update will launch at 13:15 BST (12:15 Game Time)

Time to forge your way to new heights with both the skill level caps of Mining & Smithing climbing to 110!

New Skill Levels: Mining and Smithing 110
Forging Our Way to New Heights!

Skills have always been the backbone of the RuneScape experience. They guide the adventures you undertake, the challenges you master, and how you interact with the world of Gielinor.

Back in the day, 99s were a distant dream, but nearly 25 years of content updates bringing bonuses, faster training methods and events have made them more achievable than they once were. Today, we're bringing two iconic skills up to the lofty heights of level 110: Mining and Smithing.

This is just the first volley in our plan to raise the level cap of all skills to 110 as part of future skilling updates - so stay tuned for more!

Today you'll be able to dive in and start mining new ores in Daemonheim in order to create Primal Equipment. You might also like to set aside some time to craft a new T100 Masterwork Sword and an accompanying T100 Augmentable Pickaxe! These new tools are sure to improve your Mining and Smithing experience as you start training once more.

Check out our recent blog and the patch notes below for more information on today's launch!

Patch Notes
Fixes and Improvements in this Week's Game Update

Mining

  • Light animica rocks at the core Mining site in the Kharidian Desert are now sandy brown rather than dark grey.
  • Corrected a minor inconsistency in Bane and Elder Rune pickaxe penetration.
  • Tier Old Penetration New Penetration
    Bane 185 180
    Elder Rune 235 225
  • Corrected a minor inconsistency in Banite and Elder Runite mining rock hardness.
  • Rocks Old Hardness New Hardness
    Banite 185 180
    Elder Runite 235 225
  • Depositing an item into an ore box of insufficient level now gives more specific information about why the item couldn't be deposited.
  • Primal Stone Spirits have been added to the following loot tables:
Drop Table Change
Metamorphic geodes Replaced Anima Crystal
The super rare drop table Replaced Earth Talismans
Raptor's chest of slaying Added to Stone Spirits and salvage drop
Triskelion Treasures Added to Banite Stone Spirits drop
Raksha Replaced Carambola Seeds
Rasial Added to loot table
Solak Replaced Banite Stone Spirits
Nex: Angel of Death Replaced Cadantine Seeds
Kerapac (normal and hard mode) Added to loot table
Beastmaster Durzag and Yakamaru Replaced Yew Logs
Edimmu's Replaced Fire Talismans
Kal'gerion demons Replaced Tiny Spiky Rune Salvage
Seekers and soul gazers Added to loot table

Dev note: Primal Stone Spirits have been added to the above tables with the intention of keeping them somewhat steady in supply compared to other Stone Spirits. For this reason you may see them drop in lower quantities and at lower frequencies than you'd expect. As this is a new update, prices will adjust accordingly over time. We have not intended this as a buff or nerf to any particular loot table, and will keep an eye on data and feedback as time passes.

Smithing

  • The Smithing interface now has a make-x quantity slider to allow creation of multiple projects of the same type without reopening the interface!
  • Items created in stacks in the Smelting and Smithing interfaces now suffix their stack size to the project item name.
  • Fixed a live Make-X bug where ingredients from multiple sources were cycling their item icons even if the recipe multi had an override object.
  • The Metal Bank interface viewable from your Bank or Ore Box now has a scroll bar to accommodate additional core ores.
  • Armour Spikes:
    • All variants of Armour Spikes are now tradeable with a Grand Exchange buy limit of 10,000.
      • Armour Spikes will require the Smithing level to create them in order to be used.
    • The Smithing requirement for Abyssal Armour Spikes has been corrected from 1 to 99.
    • The proc chance of Abyssal Armour Spikes' secondary effect has increased from 25% to 100%.
    • The buy limit of Abyssal Flesh on the Grand Exchange has been increased from 500 to 5,000.

Quests

  • The Family Crest quest is no longer required to store Silver and Gold in the Ore Box and Metal Bank. The quest still unlocks the Smelting Gauntlets.
  • During Defender of Varrock, you can now interact with the sacred forge to use Blurite Ore on it and to start the cutscene.

Graphical

  • Camdozaal has been graphically updated. Made some slight adjustments to the start of the sacred forge cutscene to accommodate.
  • Added a World Map link to the entrance and exit of Camdozaal.
  • Resource dungeons now have an exit animation to match their enter animation.

Audio

  • Seagulls at Daemonheim no longer sound like crows. Cor!

Combat

  • Fixed an issue where switching between different Essence of Finality abilities caused both special effects to trigger.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in the Soulfire special attack not being reset if the special procs alongside Greater Chain.

General

  • From now on the Giant Ent familiar should affect the yield of Cactus Spines and Cactus Potatoes.
  • Hiding invention cogs no longer unsheathes weapons when equipping new armour.
  • The hide cogs toggle now works on the Crystal Pickaxe Mining animation.
  • Updated the reward track to not minimize during certain Treasure Hunter promotions.
  • Fixed an opacity issue with the Time Clone version of the Kerry pet.
  • My Arm's herb patch will now correctly tell you which seed is planted when inspected. The Scroll of Life will now also work with this patch.
  • Fixed an issue where augmented Necromancy Lanterns would look rigid in combat.
  • Fixed an issue where augmented items wouldn't appear sheathed with cogs turned off.
