Java has been sunset today

As 2019 draws to a close, so too does our wonderful adventure with Java.

As we explained earlier this month, RuneScape’s Java client has been retired on December 18th 2019. Closing the Java client means we can focus on the far superior NXT version, which offers users loads of benefits such as better performance, increased draw distances and enhanced graphics.

But fear not, Java users! If you're still playing the game on the Java client, it has has never been easier to switch to NXT. Providing you're not using an older, legacy operating system, you shouldn't have any problems.

For the small number of players who own much older machines or are running dated versions of Windows and still encounter issues, you can find more information in the Technical Help section of the Support Centre. From there you'll also be able to get in touch if you require further assistance.

The closure of the RuneScape Java client will NOT affect players using NXT. Old School players are not affected.
