Membership and Bonds Price Change
Active Monthly Grandfather Rate subscribers unaffected by Membership Price changes.

Over the last two years, your support has enabled substantial updates like Leagues, Amascut, Thieving 120, The Return to the Desert Series and Group Ironman - as well as significant improvements to player support and anti-cheat.
As we look to the future, the exciting roadmaps and announcements we’ve recently shared are the biggest and most ambitious we’ve ever done, and all part of a wider shift to make RuneScape games even better: from enhancing our core systems, to improving our supporting services, and ensuring continued delivery of the kind of updates players value most.
To support this, we're making some changes to our Memberships: From April 9th (or your next bill date after this), the price of Membership will be changing for 12 Month Memberships and 1 Month Memberships. New Membership subscriptions will be available at the new prices as of today, March 10th.
Your price will not be changing if you are actively on a Grandfathered rate monthly subscription (any subscription started, sustained and in active use from before September 27 2024).
The price of Bonds will also be adjusted in line with 1 Month Membership prices.
12 Month Membership (formerly known as Premier) continues to offer our best annual value, providing 12 months for the price of 9 on average.

Grandfather Terms Update
As always, if you’re actively subscribed to a monthly recurring Grandfathered rate, your price will not be changing. These legacy rates recognise long-time players who’ve supported RuneScape through many years, and we want that to continue.
Eligible Grandfather rate players will need an active recurring monthly Membership to retain their rate going forward. The ability for 12 Month Membership subscribers to switch between discounted-value 12 Month Membership and inactive Grandfather Rate memberships has also been discontinued.
We will continue to offer a 14-day grace period to protect your Grandfathered rate in the event of a billing issue. However, your rate will not be preserved if you choose to unsubscribe from April 9th 2026. Please see FAQs for further details.

Am I impacted by this change?
For those subscribed to an active Grandfathered rate (any monthly subscription activated and sustained from before September 27 2024), your membership price is staying exactly the same.
If you’re on a 1 month subscription activated on or after September 24th, or on a 12 Month Membership, your price will be changing. See “What happens to my grandfathered rate?” for further information.
Why are prices changing?
We want to deliver a model that:
- better supports the ongoing investment we are making across both games
- supports the cost of infrastructure, upgraded systems, new content, and improvements to player support
- keeps RuneScape and Old School RuneScape sustainable for the next 25 years, not just the last 25
Most major MMOs rely on expansions, battle passes, or increasingly aggressive monetisation to account for increased investment and cost of operation. We believe in a simple subscription-led approach that delivers incredible value while supporting continued improvement for our games and services.
When will the new prices take effect?
The new pricing will roll out from 10 March 2026 for new agreements.
For 12-month and 1-month members, the new pricing will apply at your renewal date from 9 April 2026. Your subscription will automatically renew at the new price unless cancelled. Please note that if you cancel less than 3 days before your renewal date, you may still be charged, but you can contact us for a refund here.
Those on an active Grandfather Rate agreement (an unbroken in-use subscription prior to September 27th 2024) will not be affected.
What happens to my grandfathered rate?
If you’re actively subscribed to a monthly recurring Grandfathered rate, your price will not be changing. Grandfathered rates will remain exactly as they are.
Grandfathered Rates apply to those with an unbroken subscription agreement (including 14 days grace) from before 27th September 2024.
Other changes are being made to the Grandfather Rate eligibility:
- If you cancel your subscription on or after April 9 2026, your Grandfathered rate will no longer be preserved (except in the case of billing issues - if you have a rebill failure you will be notified and be given a grace period to ensure payment success).
- If you currently use Bonds to maintain membership, you will no longer retain your discounted Grandfathered Rate unless you switch to a recurring subscription before 9 April.
- If you pay a discounted rate for a non-recurring subscription, this discounted rate will no longer continue after 9 April unless you switch to a recurring subscription
- Members have until 9 April to ensure they are on a recurring monthly subscription to keep their Grandfathered Rate.
- Those using Bonds or non-recurring payment methods will be contacted individually so their options are clear.
- If you are a 12-Month Membership Subscriber, your inactive grandfather monthly membership rate will be discontinued. For the vast majority of subscribers, 12 Month Membership represents the best value even against Grandfathered Rates, providing 12 months for the price of 9 on average.
- 6 Month Membership Package will be removed from sale as of today as we simplify our Membership offerings. All existing 6 Month subscribers will be unaffected and retain their existing 6 Month Membership unless cancelled.
What if there’s a payment failure when paying for my recurring Grandfathered rate ?
Our systems can detect when a recurring payment fails, and when this happens members will be notified by email so they can update their card details or add funds to their account. Payment will be retried (up to 3 more times over 6 days) so the subscription can continue at the grandfathered rate.
What happens to my recurring Grandfathered rate if I need to change payment / account details?
You will keep your grandfathered rate as long as you maintain a recurring subscription
What happens to my recurring Grandfathered rate if I change my subscription package?
If you are on a 3/6 month plan, you can change to a 1 month plan and keep your Grandfathered rate (adjusted to that of the 1 month plan).
If you change from a 1 month plan to 12 Month Membership, you will not be able to return to your Grandfathered rate if in future you switch back.
What happens to my recurring Grandfathered rate if I redeem a bond / voucher?
If you have an active subscription with a Grandfathered rate when you redeem a bond / voucher, you will keep your Grandfathered rate as long as you do not cancel your subscription.
I’m on a 3-month or 6-month plan. What happens now?
Like the removal of our 3 month packages in 2022, 6 Month Membership Package will be discontinued from 10th March 2026 as we simplify our Membership offerings. Existing 6 (and 3) Month subscribers will keep their price and subscription cadence unless cancelled.
Why is 12 Month Membership changing?
12 Month Membership continues to be our best-value option.
On 10th March 2026, the price of 12 Month Membership will be updated for new agreements. From 9th April 2026, existing 12 Month Membership members will:
- renew at the updated 12-month price
- continue to offer one of the largest discounts vs 12 monthly payments in the MMO category
- provide 12 months of Membership for the price of 9 on average.
Can I still buy Membership with Bonds, and will the cost change?
Yes — you are still able to claim 14 Days Membership with a single Bond either purchased or acquired through gameplay.
Bond value will be updated in line with the new 1-month membership price to keep the system fair and consistent, but Bonds will still be redeemable for 14 days of membership as usual.
Why are some regions seeing different adjustments?
We operate in many currencies worldwide. Changes vary by region due to:
- currency fluctuations since our last review
- local taxes and payment processing fees
- economic stability of specific markets
In some regions, prices may increase at different rates based on these factors.
How does this support the future of the game?
We want to deliver a model that:
