This week brings adjustments to Sailing, Last Man Standing rewards system and more…

Sailing Changes
- Updated the colours of Steel and Iron cannonballs to better depict their metals, bringing them in line with other items made from those materials.
- Likewise, Steel and Iron nails have also been adjusted so their appearance better matches their metal.
- Rubium Mining tweaks:
- Tick manipulation no longer works at Rubium rocks.
- Increased the amount of guaranteed Rubium Splinters you receive based on your Mining level, capping at 2:
- Level 48 Mining: 1 guaranteed Splinter
- Level 72 Mining: 2 guaranteed Splinters
- Incendiary and Chainshot cannonballs:
- Reduced the Smithing XP as outlined in the blog here. (See the table for new XP rates in its dedicated section of this blog)
- Reduced the production speed - the Incendiary and Chainshot cannonballs can now be made at one set every 2 ticks.
- Some hotfixes we've deployed last week:
- The auto-retaliate option for cannons no longer has an additional delay, bringing them in line with standard combat.
- The armour immunity of keels now works correctly when auto-retaliate is enabled for cannons.
- The "Boat 'Em Up" track now correctly unlocks and gets added to the Music Player when the player is the Captain of the boat. If you previously completed the quest and the track did not unlock, you can now unlock it simply by disembarking at Last Light.
Changes to the Last Man Standing Rewards Eligibility
- Now, players must first win a game of Last Man Standing before they can purchase any tradeable items from Justine's Stuff for the Last Shopper Standing.
- Players who haven't won any games can only purchase the untradeable items from the shop.
Wilderness QoL Change
- Now, if a player dies without having been in combat with another player within the last 30 seconds, their death will be treated as a PvM death instead of a PvP death - even if they were attacked by another player earlier. This change is intended to prevent situations where players are attacked in the Wilderness, forget they were attacked, then continue engaging in PvM and lose their items to a PvP death unknowingly.
- This applies to all account types, meaning if you haven't been in player combat in the last 30 seconds before dying:
- The PKer can no longer receive your loot.
- Your items can be reclaimed from your Gravestone or Death.
- If you've been in player combat in the last 30 second before dying, standard PvP death mechanics will apply.
Other Changes
- Updated the Leagues first board to reflect that Kalmaars was the first player to max in Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts.
- A message about puffer fish has been updated for players using the Medallion of the Deep.
PvP Rota
The PvP rota has moved to Period B:
- 560 - (UK) - PvP World
- 319 - (US) - Bounty Hunter World
- 579 - (US) - High-Risk PvP World
- 561 - (UK) - Free-to-Play PvP World
- 580 - (US) - LMS Competitive
World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been de-activated with this rota.
World 569 (AUS) for Bounty Hunter has been de-activated with this rota.
The PvP Arena is using '1 Def Pure' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week.
We’ve updated the colours of Steel and Iron cannonballs to better depict their metals, bringing them in line with other items made from those materials. Likewise, Steel and Iron nails have also been adjusted so their appearance better matches their metal. This should help clear any confusion and improve the new player experience.

We're making changes to Rubium Mining and Incendiary and Chainshot cannonball Smithing, as outlined in this blog.
Tick-manipulation has been removed from Rubium rocks, making Rubium a more moderate XP activity that also provides a valuable resource.
We've also increased the amount of guaranteed Rubium Splinters you receive based on your Mining level, capping at 2:
- Level 48 Mining: 1 guaranteed Splinter
- Level 72 Mining: 2 guaranteed Splinters

We've adjusted the Smithing XP as follows:
| Cannonball | Incendiary (Old) | Incendiary (New) | Chainshot (Old) | Chainshot (New) |
| Bronze | 25 XP | 5 XP | 25 XP | 10 XP |
| Iron | 50 XP | 10 XP | 50 XP | 16 XP |
| Steel | 75 XP | 15 XP | 75 XP | 24 XP |
| Mithril | 100 XP | 20 XP | 100 XP | 30 XP |
| Adamant | 125 XP | 25 XP | 125 XP | 40 XP |
| Rune | 150 XP | 30 XP | 150 XP | 48 XP |
Additionally, new cannonballs are now made at one set every 2 ticks.
For more context behind these changes, be sure to check out the dedicated Rubium Mining and Smithing blog. We'll continue to monitor feedback on this update so please keep letting us know your thoughts once you've had a chance to try these changes.
Plus, in case you missed it, we've also deployed some hotfixes last week:
- The auto-retaliate option for cannons no longer has an additional delay, bringing them in line with standard combat.
- The armour immunity of keels now works correctly when auto-retaliate is enabled for cannons.
- The "Boat 'Em Up" track now correctly unlocks and gets added to the Music Player when the player is the Captain of the boat. If you previously completed the quest and the track did not unlock, you can now unlock it simply by disembarking at Last Light.
Last month, we shared a blog with you outlining our plans for gathering and skilling related QoL tweaks, which also included adjustments to the Last Man Standing rewards system.
Based on your feedback, we've made it so that players must first win a game of Last Man Standing before they can purchase any tradeable items from Justine's Stuff for the Last Shopper Standing.

If you haven't won any games, you can only purchase the untradeable items from the shop. Don't worry though, players struggling to secure a win can still buy a Rune Pouch, since it’s an untradeable item!

Previously, if a player died after being attacked by another player without logging out, their death was considered a PvP death, regardless of whether their fight with the other player was in the last 3 seconds or the last 3 hours.
We've changed this so that if a player dies without having been in combat with another player within the last 30 seconds, their death will now be treated as a PvM death instead of a PvP death - even if they were attacked by another player earlier. This change is intended to prevent situations where players are attacked in the Wilderness, forget they were attacked, then continue engaging in PvM and lose their items to a PvP death unknowingly.
This applies to all account types, meaning if you haven't been in player combat in the last 30 seconds before dying:
- The PKer can no longer receive your loot.

Cosy up for our Summer Campfire coming on Friday, May 29th at 1pm UTC!
Ok but what is a Campfire? Campfires aim to complement Summits by giving us the opportunity to succinctly share new updates and information on the projects you already know about.
This new format will be a pre-recorded video that will launch alongside a dedicated newspost and Summer Campfire Poll for you to vote in! We're hoping this will be a nice way to 'check in' on content coming to the game in the near future whilst you wait for the next Summit at RuneFest in October.
Around the Campfire you can expect to hear from Mods Kieren, Ayiza, Rice, Light, Other, Sarnie, Blossom, and Arcane. You can look forward to updates on Blood Moon Rises, Summer Sweep-Up, The Fractured Archive, and Wyrmscraig to name just a few. That's not to say there won't be a couple of smaller surprises we'd like to share with you!
Keep an eye out for the newspost and the video on the OSRS YouTube channel. See you this Friday!
