Heists & Thieving Level increase - New Skilling Update

Grab your stethoscope and finest sneaking attire, Heists drop on Monday, November 24th!

This new repeatable “solo-together” activity shakes up Thieving like never before. Plus, we’re boosting the level cap to 120 and adding new stalls, pickpockets, and an overhauled chest system to the core Thieving Systems.

  • Dive into Heists! Test your cunning in a repeatable, active skilling challenge — infiltrate secure facilities and escape with the treasure.
  • Sharpen your skills with revamped Chests, a mid-intensity training method that rewards you with XP and valuable items.
  • Discover new opportunities for larceny with fresh pickpocket targets and thematic stalls to pilfer from.
  • Liberate powerful tools and weapons waiting to be claimed within Heists.

Heists

Ever wanted to slip your way through a bank vault, sneaking past guards and traps, rifling through lockboxes, and vanishing without a trace? Then Heists are made for you!

This active skilling method has you infiltrating a secure facility, using your cunning and guile to outsmart guards and avoid deadly traps. Rely on core Thieving skills like pickpocketing, looting chests, and safecracking to scoop up loot as you work your way through the complex and plunder the final vault at the end!

These encounters offer a repeatable, active way to train your Thieving skill while earning loot and a variety of unique rewards we’ll dive into later!

You also won’t be entirely alone on your caper, Heists are designed as a “solo-together” experience. Your progress is completely individual, but you’ll be able to see other players making their way through the facility as well, learning from their successes (and their stumbles).

Gathering Reconnaissance

With this update we will be introducing 2 Heists:

The Vault of Hereditas found hidden in a sealed wing of Kharid-et and haunted by the specters of fallen legionnaires, you will need to quickly move around the environment to avoid patrolling ghostly guards and use your nimble fingers to acquire Pylon batteries to progress further into this lost treasure trove of Archeological discoveries.

The Vault is available from level 95 Thieving but as it is in Kharid-Et you will need to get in the front door first.

Meanwhile The Asuran Arsenal can be found on the island lost to time, Anachronia towards the south-east. Here you will find a Dragonkin storehouse chock full of all those dangerous siege cannons that Kerapac liked to terrorize Gielinor with.

And when I say dangerous I mean it, dying in here counts as a regular death so bring food and consider cutting your trip short if you're worried about death!

Here you will need to use precise timing to dodge blasts of dragonfire and a security system that isn't fond of people snooping around. You can make your way into the arsenal at 108 Thieving!

Gathering the Spoils

As you sneak through these facilities, you’ll come across various sources of loot including chests and safes ripe for pilfering.

When you enter a Heist, Liara, the Thieves’ Guild’s official business representative, will provide you with a bag to store your stolen goods.

She can be found outside each Heist entrance, ready to get you started and to fence your pilfered loot after a completed or canceled run. In return, you’ll receive a smorgasbord of supplies and coins, which will be placed in the Heist Storage chest right beside her.

As you haul your loot through the Heist, you’ll lose a portion of it whenever you slip up, whether that’s getting caught by guards or getting hit by traps. Your goal is to deliver as much loot as possible to the end of the Heist for the biggest payout.

You can hold up to 500 points of loot, but each Heist contains more than that (especially once you’ve unlocked all safes and chests), so a few mistakes are manageable.

You’ll always walk away with something, since the final chest awards a solid chunk of loot on its own but for maximum profit, keep your pockets full and avoid getting caught!

What's in it for me?

While Liara will be supplying the majority of the general rewards from these Heists there are some unique items you may find at the end of a run that you will keep all for yourself.

In the Vault of Hereditas you may find:

Gloomfire Bow

A dark and twisted tier 90 Bow from another realm, its "Shadowfall" special attack fires arrows into your foe marking them to be struck by the shadows.

Legatus's Emberstaff

An ominous staff and a mark of office, this imposing tier 90 staff immolates your foes with its powerful special attack "The Last Command".

Misalionar's Death Mask

In life a powerful druid, in death a powerful necromancer. So powerful even his death shroud still retains potency.

While in the Asuran Arsenal you can find:

Varanus's Mercy

A vicious tier 90 dagger, swift and deadly it strikes with exceptional speed and ferocity. Its "The Final Flurry" special attack is to quickly strike your target 3 times with increasing critical damage.

Nodon Spike Harness

A cruel piece of equipment that fits in the ammo slot, it can be filled with armour spikes while boosting melee damage then its passive "Karmic Retribution" increases the power of your armour spikes with a bonus from your Melee Power Armour damage bonus that gains in strength when you are at a lower health threshold.

Core Gameplay Additions

Heists are the star of the show but other core methods of thieving are getting some new victims additions. New NPCs to pickpocket, Stalls to steal from and Chests have been updated.

While a significant portion of this new content is geared toward the 100 - 120 late game experience, not everything is reserved for post-99 play, the mid game is getting some additional options and sources of items that might help spruce up your progression!

What's in the Box?!

Chests have been completely reworked, replacing the old system with a smoother and more engaging experience. Some of the older style of chests will still remain in game but we are looking to replace those in a future update.

They now serve as a mid-intensity training method, requiring some attention as you move between locations. Chests are arranged in small clusters of roughly three within compact areas, encouraging players to run short circuits while waiting for each one to restock.

Interacting with a chest gradually unlocks its tumblers, awarding XP as they shift into place. Once all tumblers are released, the chest opens, granting loot along with an additional burst of XP. Bring your lockpicks!

Check out the table below for a rough rundown of where you can find these chests and what you may find inside. For further info check out the skill guide in game when this update is launched.
